Detailed Project Description

Students, divided into groups of 3 to 5, should choose a Baroque artwork and recreate it using artistic techniques of painting or sculpture, according to the nature of the chosen work. The recreation of the artwork should be faithful to the original, but students will have the freedom to choose the materials they will use, as long as they can express the characteristics of the Baroque: drama, realism, the contrast of light and shadow (chiaroscuro), and the attempt to materialize the divine.

The group should also research the history of the chosen artwork, the context in which it was created, its connection with the Catholic Church and Counter-Reformation, and how it reflects the society and politics of the time. In addition to the artistic recreation, each group will deliver a report containing all this information.

The materials for the project execution are freely chosen by the students, depending on the technique chosen for the artwork recreation, but may include: acrylic paint, cardboard, clay, papier-mâché, etc.
