Water is vital for life as we know it. It covers 70% of the surface of our planet and is everywhere in our biology - about 60% of the human body is composed of water. In this project, we will explore the crucial role that water plays in the human body.
Water performs many essential functions in the human body, including maintaining body temperature, lubricating joints, protecting body tissues, assisting in waste excretion through urine, and participating in digestion.
Furthermore, water makes up most of our blood and is essential for transporting nutrients and oxygen to the body's cells. Without water, these vital processes would be impossible, and life as we know it could not exist.
Introduction
This project will address the importance of water for the functioning of the human body. We will delve into the understanding of the biochemical and physiological processes in which water plays a fundamental role, such as maintaining homeostasis, transporting nutrients, and excreting waste.
Students will be encouraged to discover how the percentage of water in the human body varies with age, sex, and amount of adipose tissue. We will investigate the differences in the amount of water present in various tissues and organs of the body, and how this water is used.
Based on these studies, each group will then develop an educational presentation to explain the learned content in a fun and engaging way for their peers. The goal is to stimulate research, creativity, teamwork, and active learning.

This project will be carried out in groups of 3 to 5 students. The expected duration is one month, and each student should spend 5 to 10 hours throughout the project.
Students will conduct research, using the provided sources and others of their choice, on the importance of water for the functioning of the human body, the biochemical and physiological processes in which water plays a fundamental role, and how the percentage of water in the human body varies with age, sex, and amount of adipose tissue.
