To better understand this intriguing structure, we will delve deeply into the subject, adopting a multidisciplinary approach that will include Biology and Psychology.

Biology will allow us to understand the physical structure of the nervous system, divided into the central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system. We will study the organs, their functions, and how they interact with each other. Psychology, on the other hand, helps us understand how this system affects our behavior, emotions, and thoughts. How are our body and mind strongly connected by the nervous system? That is what we will explore.

The importance of the nervous system cannot be underestimated. It is present in almost every aspect of our lives, from controlling our movements to processing the information we receive from the environment around us. Let's delve into how the nervous system works so that you can better understand how we are influenced by it and how we can influence it.

The complexity of the nervous system makes it a fascinating and vast topic for study. But it is also a subject that has real and direct implications for our health and well-being. By understanding the nervous system, we can learn how to improve our health, deal with stress, and even enhance our performance in various activities.

Practical Activity: "Mapping the Nervous System: An Interdisciplinary Journey"

Project Objective

  1. Research, study, and understand the theory involving the nervous system, its structure, functions, and implications.
  2. Develop an understanding of the relationship between the nervous system and human behavior, seeking to understand and explain real experiences of youth, stress, and mental health.
  3. Create a detailed and labeled three-dimensional model of the nervous system.
  4. Present a seminar where each group will present their findings and models.

Detailed Project Description

Divided into groups of three to five members, students will delve into the nervous system, exploring both its physical structure and its psychological implications. The challenge will be to understand this complex network and represent it through a three-dimensional model and a seminar.

The key topics to be explored are:

  1. Structure and Functions of the Nervous System: The division between the central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system, their components, and functions.
  2. Neurotransmitters: What they are, what are the main ones, and what is their function in the nervous system.
  3. Nervous System and Behavior: The influence of the nervous system on our behavior, emotions, and thinking.
  4. Nervous System and Mental Health: An overview of contemporary challenges to mental health and their connections to the nervous system.

Required Materials

  • Materials for building the model (cardboard, clay, sticks, paper mache, paint, etc.).
  • Books and online resources for research.
  • Presentation software (PowerPoint, Prezi, etc.).

Step by Step

  1. Theoretical Research: Each group must study and understand the concepts and theory related to the key topics. The research should be recorded and documented.
  2. Model Construction: In parallel with the research, students will build a three-dimensional model of the nervous system, labeling its parts and respective functions.
  3. Seminar Development: Students will create a slide presentation, explaining the researched concepts and showing their model. The seminar should explain the theory and how it applies to real situations and mental health.
  4. Presentation: Each group will make a presentation of approximately 20 minutes, followed by a question and answer session.

Project Delivery and Report Elaboration

Students will deliver their three-dimensional model, make the presentation, and then elaborate a report, which should follow the suggested structure:

  1. Introduction: Students must contextualize the theme, its relevance and application in the real world, as well as the project's objective. They must also explain the methodology used for the research.
  2. Development: It should contain a detailed explanation of the concepts and theories collected in the research, also describing the construction of the model and the elaboration of the seminar, recording the challenges and achievements encountered in this process.
  3. Conclusion: Here, students must revisit the main points of the work, explaining the learnings obtained and the conclusions drawn about the project.
  4. Bibliography: Students must indicate the sources they relied on to work on the project such as books, websites, videos, etc.

The project schedule should extend over a period of three to four weeks, allowing enough time for research, model construction, seminar preparation, and report writing.
