Contextualization
The circulatory system, also known as the cardiovascular system, is one of the most important systems in our body. It is responsible for transporting nutrients, gases, hormones, and immune cells throughout the body, ensuring that all of our cells receive what they need to function and are protected.
This system is composed essentially of the heart, which works like a pump, and of blood vessels, which are the roads through which blood travels throughout our body. Blood, in turn, is the fluid that carries everything that is necessary for cells.
Importance of the Circulatory System
The health of our circulatory system is vital for our survival. Problems such as hypertension, heart failure, and atherosclerosis can have serious repercussions for our health. Thus, understanding how this system works and what can negatively affect it is crucial for maintaining our health.
In addition, many of the advances in modern medicine, such as complex surgeries and transplants, are only possible thanks to our knowledge of the circulatory system. On the other hand, many challenges still exist. How can we ensure the health of the circulatory system in aging populations? How can we deal with pandemics and diseases that affect this system?

Activity Title: "Towards Circulation: A Journey through the Circulatory System"
Project Objective
The objective of this project is to familiarize students with the human circulatory system, its main parts, and functions, as well as to explore factors that may influence the health of the circulatory system. By combining research, analysis, creativity, and presentation, students will be able to understand the importance of the circulatory system in maintaining life.
Project Description
Students will be divided into groups of 3 to 5 people. Each group will be responsible for researching, analyzing, and creating a physical 3D model representing the circulatory system. This model must include the heart, blood vessels (arteries, veins, and capillaries), and representations of blood cells.
Groups must also prepare an oral presentation to explain the functioning of the circulatory system, how it relates to the other systems of the human body, and what factors can positively or negatively affect its health.
Required Materials
- Material for constructing the 3D model: Cardboard, paper-mâché, acrylic paint, etc.
- Research materials: Books, internet, videos, etc.

Research: Each group should begin by researching the circulatory system to understand its functions, components, and how it works. This will include research on the heart, the different types of blood vessels, and the blood cells.

At the conclusion of the project, each group should submit their 3D model along with a written report, following the topics of Introduction, Development, Conclusions, and Bibliography used, which details the design and construction stages of the model, the research conducted, and the results of the learning obtained. The oral presentation will also be evaluated.
In the report, students should contextualize the circulatory system and its importance, detail how the model was made and the design choices made, discuss the functioning of the circulatory system and the factors that affect its health, and finally indicate the sources on which they based their research.
This activity focuses on collaboration and teamwork, searching and analyzing information, the ability to represent complex information in a fun and accessible way, and presentation skills. The written report will complement the learning, reinforcing the theoretical and practical understanding of the circulatory system.
