Contextualization
The south of Brazil, composed of the states of Paraná, Santa Catarina, and Rio Grande do Sul, is a region of extreme importance for the Brazilian economy and presents a great diversity of biomes. This region is marked by agricultural, industrial, and touristic production. The economic integration of this region presents challenges and opportunities that are fundamental to understand the geographical processes of our country.
The economy of the south is diversified, with a strong presence of industry and agriculture that complement each other. The development of these sectors brings impacts to the local biomes, such as the Pampa, the Atlantic Forest, and the Araucaria Forest. The management of these biomes and the effort to maintain a balance between economic development and environmental preservation is a geographical issue of great relevance.
This region has a long history of European colonization, mainly German and Italian, which brought various traditions and influences to the local culture and economy. The cities in this region present unique characteristics, with a mixture of rural and urban traditions.
Introduction
The integrated analysis of the economy and biomes of the south of Brazil is a complex task that requires an interdisciplinary approach. Geography joins disciplines such as Economics, Biology, and History to understand these processes. Thus, the study of the southern region involves the analysis of economic indicators, the understanding of biomes, and the consequences of economic exploitation for the environment and local populations.
In this project, you will work in teams to conduct an integrated analysis of the economy and biomes of the southern region of Brazil. You should research and present economic data, analyze the biomes, and discuss the consequences of economic activity for the environment and local populations in the region.
This project will not only allow you to deepen your knowledge in geography but also develop skills to work in teams, solve problems, and communicate your results effectively.
Practical Activity
Activity Title: "Economic Integration and Biomes of the Southern Region: an Integrated Analysis"
Project Objective
The objective of the project is to provide an in-depth understanding of the Southern region, integrating concepts of economy, geography, and biology, stimulating teamwork, in-depth research, and effective presentation of results.
Project Description
The student groups, composed of 3 to 5 members, must develop a presentation, preferably in a digital format such as PowerPoint, Prezi, or Google Slides, that explores the various aspects of the economy and biomes of the southern region of Brazil. The agricultural, industrial, and service sectors, the diversity of biomes, socio-environmental challenges, and the historical and cultural influence on the region's development should be considered.
Required Materials
- Internet access for research.
- Presentation materials: Powerpoint, Prezi, or Google Slides.
- Access to books, documents, and websites for research.
Step by Step
-
Group Formation: Students must organize themselves into groups of 3 to 5 people.
-
Research: Students will conduct detailed research on the region's economy (agricultural, industrial, and service sectors), the present biomes and their respective socio-environmental challenges. They should also research the cultural and historical influence on the region's development.
-
Analysis and Synthesis: Based on the collected material, students will analyze and synthesize the data.
-
Presentation Creation: Working as a team, students will build the presentation, ensuring that all elements (economy, biomes, socio-environmental challenges, cultural influence, and history) are well integrated.
-
Review: All group members must review the presentation before the final submission. This includes the accuracy of information, clarity of the presentation, and integration of different elements.
-
Presentation: Each group must present their work to the class within the established deadline.
Project Deliverables
Presentation
The presentation must contain a minimum of 20 slides, with each slide composed of text and images. The presentation should be logical and cohesive in its structure, with all project topics well integrated.
Written Document
After the presentation, each group must write a report on the project containing the following topics:
-
Introduction: In this section, students should contextualize the theme, its relevance, and application in the Brazilian reality, as well as the objectives of this project.
-
Development: Here, the theory behind the main topics of the project should be explicit, the research methodology used, details of the activity, and discussion of the results.
-
Conclusions: In this section, students should summarize the main points of the project, indicating the learnings obtained and the conclusions drawn from the project.
-
Bibliography: The list of sources consulted for the project development should be presented, including books, websites, videos, etc.
Success to all!
