To understand World War I, we need to delve into the causes of the conflict, its main characteristics and developments, and consequences. Furthermore, it is essential to analyze the role of the various nations involved, the evolution of conflicts, and societies' response to this devastating event.

Contextualization

World War I is foundational to understanding the history of the 20th century. From it, we witnessed the emergence of new nations, profound changes in international relations, the consolidation of communism in Russia, and the beginning of tensions that would lead to World War II.

World War I also had a significant impact on the African and Asian colonies of European powers and on the newly industrialized Latin America. The need for war resources increased the exploitation of these regions, leading to resistance movements and eventually to independence.

Project Objective

The objective of this project is to allow students to understand World War I from a multifaceted perspective, exploring sociopolitical, economic, and cultural aspects to analyze its causes, developments, and consequences. Additionally, the project aims to develop skills such as teamwork, critical thinking, ability to synthesize information, and research and writing skills.

Detailed Project Description

Groups will be responsible for creating a "virtual museum" dedicated to World War I. Each group will have the freedom to choose a digital platform of their preference for building the museum (such as PowerPoint, Prezi, Google Slides, among others).

The virtual museum must include the following sections:

1. Pre-War (Context and Causes): This section should explore the political and social climate that led to World War I. It should also discuss the role of African and Asian colonies and industrialization in Latin America.

2. During the War (Developments): This section should address the evolution of the war, its main battles and strategies, and the impact on the lives of soldiers and civilians.

3. Post-War (Consequences): This section should discuss the consequences of the war, peace treaties, and geopolitical changes. The societies' response to this devastating event should also be addressed.

Each section should contain explanatory texts, images, audios, videos, maps, graphics, or any other resources that help explain and contextualize the themes. Students are encouraged to be creative and find interesting and engaging ways to present information.

Step-by-Step Guide for the Activity

1. Group Formation: Form groups of 3 to 5 students and decide on a digital platform for building the museum.

2. Research: Each group should start by researching the three themes (pre-war, during the war, and post-war) using the recommended sources and any other reliable ones.

3. Outline: After researching, groups should plan how they will present the information in their virtual museum. What will be the museum's structure? What kind of visual and auditory resources will be used? How will the themes be divided among group members?

4. Development: Based on the outline, students should start creating their virtual museum, developing explanatory texts, selecting images, audios, and videos, and creating any other necessary resources.

5. Review and Finishing Touches: After creating the museum, groups should review the work, correct any errors, and add any final touches.

6. Final Presentation and Written Document: Present the virtual museum to the class and submit the written report.

Project Deliverables

The project will be delivered in two parts:

1. Virtual Museum: A link to the complete virtual museum, which will be evaluated based on the accuracy and depth of information, creativity, and presentation.

2. Written Document: A written report detailing: a) the Introduction to the topic and its relevance; b) the Development explaining the project's central theory, the activity in detail, the methodology used, and the results obtained; c) the Conclusions of the work, summarizing the main points and explaining the learnings obtained, and d) the Bibliography used. This document should be organized clearly and completely, with precise information and reliable references.

It is important to note that the written report should not be merely a transcription of the virtual museum's content. It should reflect on the museum's construction process, collaboration in the group, challenges encountered and how they were overcome, as well as the knowledge gained.
