Contextualization

The Napoleonic period was one of the most important moments in the history of France and Europe, marked by political, social, and cultural transformations. From 1799 to 1815, Napoleon Bonaparte, self-proclaimed Emperor of France, implemented several reforms that impacted both France and the entire European continent, culminating in a series of conflicts and wars known as the Napoleonic Wars.

These reforms were an attempt to consolidate and institutionalize the revolutionary principles of the French Revolution, such as individual freedom, legal equality, and private property. However, the autocratic way in which Napoleon ruled, along with the military conflicts he provoked, led to a questioning of these principles and consequences that resonate to this day.

Understanding this period is essential to comprehend European history and the formation of nation-states, as well as contemporary political and diplomatic relations. Furthermore, studying the Napoleonic period can help us reflect on issues such as authoritarianism, militarism, imperialism, and nationalism, which are so present in our daily lives.

Introduction

In this project, students will work in groups to research and analyze specific aspects of the Napoleonic period, in order to develop their teamwork, research, analysis, argumentation, and writing skills. The work will be divided into three parts: research, debate, and writing a report.

Students will be divided into groups, and each group will choose one of the proposed topics for research. This research should be based on reliable sources and conducted systematically to collect information and evidence that can be used to support the group's arguments in the debate.

After the research, the groups will have a debate on the researched topics. This debate will be an opportunity for students to exercise their argumentation and critical thinking skills, as well as learn to deal with different points of view and negotiate agreements.

Finally, the groups will write a report on the topic they researched and debated. This report should include an introduction, development, and conclusion, as well as the bibliography used by the group.

Activity Title: "Experiencing the Napoleonic Period: A Journey through History"

Project Objective

This project aims to deepen students' understanding of the Napoleonic Period. To achieve this, groups will research specific themes of this period, participate in a debate, and produce a playful representation, whether through a dramatization, podcast, storyboarding, or another creative form chosen by the group.

Detailed Project Description

Students will be divided into groups of 3 to 5 members. Each group will choose a specific sub-theme related to the Napoleonic Period, for example: Napoleon's legal reforms, his military strategies, the Napoleonic Wars, the formation of Napoleon's image, among others. The choice of the theme will be freely made, considering the interests and unique skills of each group.

This activity will be divided into three parts: research, debate, and creative representation, culminating in the report writing. It is expected that the activity will take five to ten hours per group member to complete, and the deadline is one month.

Required Materials

Students will need resources for research, such as books, academic articles, documentaries, among others. In addition, depending on the chosen form of representation, they may need filming or recording equipment, art materials, editing software, etc.

1. Group Formation: Groups will be formed by 3 to 5 students. Once formed, students must choose a sub-theme of the Napoleonic Period to research and debate.

2. Research: Groups will have time to conduct a detailed research on the chosen theme. They should seek reliable sources and try to approach the topic from different perspectives.

3. Debate: Conduct a debate among the groups. Each group will present their findings and defend their point of view. The debate will be mediated by the teacher.

4. Creation of Playful Representation: Each group must create a creative way to present the researched theme. The forms of representation may vary: dramatization, podcast, storyboard, etc.

5. Report Writing: Finally, each group must write a detailed report on the project. This report should include an introduction (with contextualization of the theme and the project's relevance), development (explaining the methodology used, the details of the practical activity, and presentation of the results obtained), conclusion (summarizing the main points and discussing the project's learnings), and the bibliography used.

1. Debate Performance: each group must actively participate in the debate, presenting their findings and defending their point of view.

2. Playful Representation: each group must creatively present their sub-theme. This presentation will be evaluated both for its content and for its quality and originality.

3. Written Report: each group must submit a detailed report on the project. The report must follow the proposed structure and be written clearly and cohesively. In addition to the content, students' ability to organize ideas, use sources ethically and appropriately, and structure an academic report will be evaluated.

Students will develop skills in research, argumentation, teamwork, and creativity, as well as gain a greater understanding of the Napoleonic period. Evaluation will be based on the quality of the research conducted, participation in the debate, originality and quality of the playful representation, and the final report.
