Project Objective:

This project aims to bring students closer to the world of Statistics through an engaging theme: Fashion. Students will have the opportunity to apply mathematical concepts in a real context by conducting a statistical analysis of clothing trends.

Detailed Project Description:

Student groups should choose a fictional fashion company and create a clothing collection for it. The collections must contain ten different pieces each, and each piece should have a variable quantity of units available, to be decided by the students. After creating their collections, they should tabulate the data and perform various statistical analyses, including calculations of mode, mean, median, range, variance, and standard deviation.

Required Materials:

  • Pencil and paper to sketch the clothing pieces and note the quantities.
  • Calculator for mathematical calculations.
  • Computer with internet access for research and report preparation.

Detailed Step-by-Step Guide for the Activity:

  1. Form groups of 3 to 5 students.
  2. Each group should invent a fashion company and decide on the style and target audience of their clothing collection.
  3. The students should then create the clothing pieces for the collection, distributing varying quantities of units for each piece.
