There are situations where the order or arrangement of elements matters (this is a permutation) and there are situations where the order does not matter (this is a combination). In a combination, we are interested in groups of items where the order does not matter. For example, if we have a set of three letters A, B, C, then the group "AB" is the same as "BA".

In many practical problems, we often encounter situations where we have to choose or select items. In these cases, we are referring to the concept of combinations. For example, imagine a company that needs to form a team of 5 people from a total of 15 candidates, how many different teams can the company form? This is a classic example of a combination problem.

The study of combinations has a huge impact in the real world. For example, in the field of probability and statistics, combinations are used to calculate the probability of a specific event occurring. And in computer science, combinations are used in encryption algorithms to create secure passwords.

Project Objective: This project aims to understand and apply the concept of combination in solving practical problems and develop teamwork, communication, and time management skills.

Detailed Project Description: As a group of 3-5 students, you must find real-world situations where the concept of combinations is applicable. For example, it could be the formation of committees, teams, selection of delegates, arrangement of objects, etc. Subsequently, you must create and solve mathematical problems related to these situations. Be creative!

Materials Needed: Pencil, paper, textbooks or online resources for reference, calculator.

  1. As a group, research and discuss real-world examples where the concept of combination is applicable. Choose at least three distinct situations.
