Activity Title: "Circuit in Action: Understanding Resistor Association"

Project Objective

The objective of this project is the construction, analysis, and documentation of a simple electrical circuit with resistors associated in series and in parallel. Students should calculate, in advance, the equivalent resistance of the circuit and later validate their calculations through practical measurements. This project also aims to stimulate teamwork, efficient time management, and the application of theoretical knowledge in solving practical problems.

Detailed Project Description

Students, divided into groups of 3 to 5 people, will have the task of creating a simple electrical circuit, with resistors associated in series and in parallel. Each team must plan their own circuit and theoretically calculate its equivalent resistance.

After building the circuit and performing practical measurements, each group must produce a report on the project, explaining in detail the process of circuit construction, the calculations performed, and the comparisons between theoretical and practical results.

Required Materials

The following materials will be needed to carry out the activity:

  • Resistors with different resistance values
  • Power source (battery or battery)
  • Cables with alligator clips at the end
  • Multimeter
  • Paper and pen for notes
  • Camera or cell phone to document the process

Detailed Step-by-Step for Carrying Out the Activity

  1. First, the group must plan the circuit that will be assembled. The circuit must have at least one association of resistors in series and one in parallel.
  2. After planning, the group must calculate the equivalent resistance of the circuit, considering the associations in series and in parallel.
  3. With the theoretical calculation done, the group must build the circuit.
  4. Using the multimeter, the group must measure the total resistance of the circuit. This measurement will be compared with the theoretical calculation done earlier.
  5. The group must document all stages of the project in a report, which should be divided into introduction, development, conclusions, and bibliography.

As part of the final delivery, each group must produce a detailed report of the project, which must contain the following sections:

  • Introduction: Contextualization of the theme, presenting the relevance and application in the real world and the project's objective.
  • Development: Detailed explanation of the theory behind resistor association, description of the methodology used, and presentation of the results obtained, including the comparison between theoretical and practical results.
  • Conclusions: Recap of the main points of the project, explaining the learnings obtained and the conclusions drawn about the project.
  • Bibliography: References of the sources used to develop the project.

The photos taken during the project should be included in the report to assist in describing the activities carried out.

The final report should connect all parts of the project, from conception, planning, execution, and final analysis. The entire process should be documented clearly and concisely, highlighting the theory learned and applied in practice.
