Renewable energy refers to energy that can be replenished on a human timescale. Some of the most common examples include solar energy, wind energy, and geothermal energy. Because these energy sources are continually replenished, they are considered to be "sustainable" in the long run. In contrast, non-renewable energy comes from sources that are finite on our planet, such as coal, oil, and natural gas.
Importance and Real-World Application
With the environmental crisis that the world faces today, the comprehension and application of renewable energy sources have become crucial. While non-renewable energy sources still dominate the global energy landscape, there is a growing recognition of the need to transition towards more sustainable energy sources. This is not only due to the negative environmental impacts of fossil fuel usage but also because these energy sources will eventually run out.
