Contextualization

Nominal Regency is one of the most complex and fascinating topics in the study of the Portuguese Language. In Nominal Regency, we study the relationship established between a noun (substantive, adjective, or adverb) and the terms governed by it. This relationship is made through a preposition, which sometimes generates doubts and confusion regarding the correct usage. For example, should we say 'preferência de' (preference of) or 'preferência por' (preference for)? What is preferable: 'gosto de' (I like) or 'gosto por' (I like for)?

Nominal Regency is the basis for the correct and clear expression of ideas. It is responsible for giving logical and coherent meaning to our speeches. Therefore, its mastery is essential for effective communication, whether in social, academic, or professional life. Without it, we run the risk of becoming incomprehensible or giving the impression of being uncultured.

Portuguese is a rich and complex language, and every nuance in grammar is important to express exactly what we mean. Nominal Regency is one of those nuances - an apparently small rule that has a great effect on the meaning of our sentences. Therefore, learning about Nominal Regency is not just an academic skill, but a life skill that will help you communicate more effectively in all areas of your life.

Nominal Regency has practical and everyday applications. It is constantly used in texts, whether in a school essay, an email, a professional report, or even in a WhatsApp conversation. Furthermore, it is highly relevant in public exams, ENEM, and college entrance exams, as it is tested in many Portuguese Language questions.

You can delve deeper into the topic and consult examples of nominal regency from the following resources:

  1. Book 'Gramática da Língua Portuguesa' by Evanildo Bechara.
  2. Website 'Sua Língua' - Article Regência Nominal by Cláudio Moreno.
  3. Video lessons from the channel Prof. Noslen on Youtube.

Practical Activity: 'Nominal Regency in Action'

Activity Title: 'Nominal Regency in Action'

Project Objective:

The main objective of this project is to allow students to learn about nominal regency in a practical and playful way, developing communication, collaboration, and creativity skills. Additionally, this work aims to connect the Portuguese Language discipline with Arts, providing a rich and stimulating interdisciplinary experience.

Detailed Project Description:

Students, divided into groups of 3 to 5 people, will be responsible for creating a theatrical piece where the central theme is Nominal Regency. The challenge will be to create a fun and engaging story where at least ten examples of correct and incorrect nominal regency are highlighted.

The groups must write the script, build the sets and costumes, act, and record the presentation on video. The play should last between 15 and 20 minutes. In addition to the recording, a detailed report explaining the entire process of creating and producing the play, focusing on the approach to Nominal Regency, is required.

Necessary Materials:

  1. Camera for recording (can be a cell phone camera);
  2. Various materials for creating sets and costumes, according to the groups' creativity;
  3. Material for writing the script and the report (can be a digital tool like Google Docs or even paper and pen);
  4. Portuguese grammar books, internet access for research.

Detailed Step-by-Step:

  1. Divide students into groups of 3 to 5 people.
  2. Each group should research in detail about Nominal Regency, study examples of correct and incorrect usage.
  3. Based on the learning, students should create a fun story that contains clear examples of nominal regency, with at least 10 of them highlighted, explained, and corrected during the play.
  4. The group must write the script of the theatrical piece, highlighting the correct and incorrect use of Nominal Regency.
  5. Students are responsible for creating the sets and costumes to be used.
  6. Record the presentation on video, which should last between 15 and 20 minutes.
  7. Prepare a detailed report on the project.

Project Deliverables:

  1. Video of the theatrical presentation.
  2. Written script of the play.
  3. Project report, containing:
  • Introduction: presentation of the theme and purpose of the activity;
  • Development: detailed explanations of the concepts of Nominal Regency illustrated in the play, justifications of correct and incorrect usage, and description of the creative process (story conception, choice of examples, creation of sets and costumes);
  • Conclusion: a reflection on the learning experience, the challenges faced, and the knowledge acquired;
  • Bibliography: list of bibliographic references consulted during the research.

The video is the practical proof that students understood and were able to apply the concepts of nominal regency. The written script serves as a guide for their presentation and a record of their creative work. The report demonstrates the students' commitment to understanding the theory, applying it in practice, and reflecting on their learning.

The focus of this project is not only on the theoretical content but also on the development of skills such as collaboration, creativity, time management, among others.
