The correct use of these punctuation marks is essential to give rhythm and expressiveness to the text.

Mastering these concepts is not only important for success in exams and academic activities but is also a skill that you will carry for a lifetime. From legal contracts and new articles to books and personal text messages, correct punctuation in compound sentences is essential for effective communication.

Punctuation is part of our daily lives and is essential for building a coherent and cohesive text. From a simple email sent in the workplace to an academic dissertation, the proper use of punctuation is what gives meaning to the message we want to convey. Likewise, it is fundamental for the correct interpretation of the messages we receive, avoiding misunderstandings and misinterpretations.

Practical Activity

Project Title: Punctuating the Stories

Project Objective:

This project aims to provide students with a better understanding, practice, and mastery in the use of punctuation marks in compound sentences.

Project Description:

In this project, each group will have to produce three types of texts: a story, a theater script, and a series of messages in a text conversation. Each type of text has its particularity that will require the proper use of punctuation marks. Students will have the opportunity to creatively explore the different scenarios of applying punctuation in compound sentences.

Required Materials:

1. Papers and pens or electronic devices (computers, tablets) with text editing programs.
2. Grammar books, dictionaries, or internet access for consultations.

Project Step by Step:

1. Students must organize themselves into groups of 3 to 5 people.

2. Each group must choose a theme that is interesting to all its members and start planning their story, theater script, and text message conversation.

3. Members must collaborate in writing, reviewing, and editing the texts, ensuring the correct and effective use of punctuation.

4. The group should discuss and record the difficulties encountered in the application of punctuation marks and the strategies used to overcome these challenges.

5. After completing the texts, each group must present the work to the class, explaining the creation process and sharing the experiences and learnings obtained.

Project Delivery:

At the end of the project, students must deliver:

1. The texts produced by the group: story, theater script, and the text message conversation. These texts will serve as the concrete proof of the work done and the group's understanding of the correct use of punctuation in compound sentences.

2. A report documenting the project, which will include:

   • Introduction: Description of the chosen theme, relevance of punctuation in compound sentences, and the project's objective.

   • Development: Explanation of the applied theory, details about the activity carried out, the methodology used, and presentation of the produced texts.

   • Conclusions: Recapitulation of the main points, lessons learned, and conclusions about the experience of writing with attention to correct punctuation.

   • Bibliography: Citation of the sources consulted during the project development.

The activities carried out should reflect the time dedicated to the project, the collaboration among group members, creativity, and, of course, the understanding of the topic.

The report should connect the practical experience of writing the texts with the studied theory, demonstrating the application of punctuation marks according to grammatical rules. Additionally, the report is an opportunity for students to express their personal and group reflections on the learning process.
