Practical Activity: Prayer Theater

Project objective

The "Prayer Theater" project aims to deepen students' understanding of the compound period through the creation of a play where the lines are made up only of compound periods.

Detailed description of the project

Each group must create a play lasting 10 to 15 minutes. The characters' lines in this play must consist only of compound periods. When developing the script, students should consider using coordination and subordination compound periods. The theme of the play is free, as long as it is appropriate for the school environment.

Students should work in groups of 3 to 5 people, dividing among themselves the work of writing the script, characterizing the characters, rehearsals and the final presentation. The project lasts one week.

Required materials

To develop this project, you will need:

• Paper and pen (for writing the script).
• Materials for making scenery and costumes (optional, at the discretion of each group).

Step by step

1. Group Formation: Students should organize themselves into groups of 3 to 5 people.
2. Script Creation: Each group must define the theme of their play and create the script. The characters' lines must consist only of compound periods.
3. Rehearsals: The groups should rehearse their play.
4. Presentation of the play: Each group will present their play to the class.
5. Writing the Report: After the presentation, each group should create a detailed project report.

Upon completion of the project, each group must submit a written report containing the following sections:

1. Introduction: In this section, the group should highlight the importance of knowledge of the compound period, its relevance for effective communication in Portuguese, and the objective of the "Prayer Theater" project.

2. Development: Here, students should explore the theory about the compound period, detailing what coordination and subordination compound periods are. Then, present in detail the process of creating and performing the play, informing the chosen theme, the characters, the plot, and how they managed to integrate the use of compound periods. They should also explain the difficulties encountered and how they were solved.
