Spelling not only ensures the correct writing of words but also their correct interpretation. Spelling errors can cause misunderstandings and even completely alter the original meaning of sentences or texts.

Moreover, in an era marked by the speed of digital communications, spelling takes on renewed relevance, as it facilitates understanding in situations where face-to-face contact is replaced by text, such as in social networks, emails, and instant messages.

Mastering Spanish spelling also opens doors in the job market, especially in areas where clear and effective communication is key, such as international trade, diplomatic relations, tourism, education, translation, and many others.

Practical Activity

Activity Title: Spelling in Action

Project Objective

This project aims to use Spanish spelling in a practical and engaging way. Students will develop and present a play, where all lines must be written in advance, respecting Spanish spelling rules. In addition, students will be encouraged to include Hispanic cultural elements in their presentation.

Project Description

Groups will need to write a script for a short play, with a minimum duration of 10 minutes and a maximum of 15 minutes. The play must contain dialogues, which will be written by the students, respecting Spanish spelling rules.

The play's theme will be at the group's discretion, but it must involve a situation that requires interaction between characters, thus promoting the use of different verb forms and tenses in Spanish.

Required Materials

1. Computer with Internet access for research and script writing
2. Camera or cellphone to record the play's presentation
3. Materials for scenography, makeup, and costumes (optional)

Step by Step

1. Group Formation: Students must divide into groups of 3 to 5 people.

2. Research: Each group must choose a theme for the play and conduct in-depth research on the cultural and social context of the chosen theme.

3. Script Writing: The group must then write the play's script. Remember: all lines must be in Spanish and respect spelling rules.

4. Script Revision: Each group must carefully review the script, correcting any spelling errors.

5. Rehearsal and Recording: After revising the script, the group must rehearse and record the play's presentation.

6. Report Elaboration: Finally, each group must write a detailed report on the project, following the given guidelines.

Project Deliverables

1. Play Script: Must be presented in Spanish and without spelling errors. It must include instructions for the setting, characters, and dialogues.

2. Presentation Video: The play must be presented and recorded on video. The video must be submitted along with the script.

3. Project Report: The report must contain four main sections: Introduction, Development, Conclusions, and Bibliography. In the Introduction, the group must contextualize the play's theme and discuss the importance of spelling in Spanish. In the Development, the group must explain how the script was written and revised, inserting comments about the creation process and difficulties encountered. In the Conclusions, the group must discuss what they learned from the project and how this experience can be applied in future situations. In the Bibliography, the group must list all sources consulted during the project.

By the end of the project, students will have developed their Spanish writing skills, respecting spelling rules, and enhanced their group work, creativity, time management, and problem-solving skills.
