For example, in the sentence 'He is afraid of dogs,' the noun 'fear' is requiring a preposition 'of' that connects the word 'dogs.' Regency can completely change the meaning of a sentence. For instance, changing 'like' to 'like in' modifies the sentence's meaning.
Understanding and correctly using nominal regency allows expressing ideas more clearly and precisely. It is a skill that contributes to effective communication, whether in the academic, professional, social, or everyday environments.

In the real world, the ability to express oneself clearly is of great value. Nominal regency, in this sense, is a powerful tool. It is present in writing texts, creating speeches, drafting important documents, and even in reading and interpreting texts.

Title: 'The World Through Nominal Regency'
Project Objective:
The objective of this project is to provide students with the opportunity to delve into nominal regency and apply this knowledge practically by conducting a linguistic analysis on a text of their choice, identifying examples of nominal regency usage, and creating a visual guide to illustrate these relationships.
Project Description:
Students will be organized into groups of 3 to 5 members. Each group must choose a text for analysis, which can be a newspaper article, a chapter from a book, a song, or a poem. They will conduct a detailed analysis of the text, identifying examples of nominal regency, discussing the choice of preposition used, and its impact on the meanings of the sentences.
The groups will then produce a visual guide in the form of a poster or infographic that presents the examples of nominal regency found, explained, and with the preposition's function highlighted. The guide should also include an explanatory section on what nominal regency is and its importance in the Portuguese language.
Required Materials:
- Group's chosen text: book, newspaper article, song, poem, etc;
- Materials for making the poster or infographic: computer with graphic editing software or paper, glue, scissors, etc.
Step by Step:
- Group Creation: Students will be divided into groups of 3 to 5 students.
- Text Selection: Each group must choose a text for analysis.
- Text Study and Identification of Nominal Regency: Students should analyze the text, identifying examples of nominal regency, noting the preposition choices and how they influence the meanings of the sentences.
- Creation of the Visual Guide: Based on the analysis conducted, the group must create a visual guide (poster or infographic) that includes: nominal regency definition, examples taken from the text with explanations, and the highlighted prepositions' functions.
- Report Elaboration: Each group must write a detailed report on the work, according to the deadline set for the project submission.
Project Deliverables:
After completing the practical activity, the groups must submit a written report (between 5 to 15 pages) and the visual guide (poster or infographic).
In the report, students should contextualize the work, explain the relevance and application of nominal regency in real life, and the objective of this project in the Introduction. Then, in the Development section, they should present the nominal regency theory, explain the activity carried out in detail, the methodology used, and finally present and discuss the results obtained. In the Conclusion, they should reiterate the main points of the work, the learnings, and conclusions drawn from the project. And finally, indicate the sources they relied on to work on the project in the Bibliography.
The visual guide should creatively and clearly present the nominal regency concepts and the analyzed examples. It will be a visual representation of the theoretical and practical learnings acquired.
Remember that by the end of the project, all students should have acquired the technical skills to employ, in social interactions, the appropriate variety and style of language for the communicative situation, the interlocutor(s), and the discourse genre, respecting the language uses by this/these interlocutor(s) and without linguistic prejudice, and to relate nouns to their complements, as well as socio-emotional skills such as time management, communication, problem-solving, creative thinking, and proactivity.
