Through it, we can identify the main chain of a compound, its branches, unsaturations, and other characteristics. Learning about nomenclature, therefore, is like learning a new language, but a universally recognized language throughout the field of chemistry!

By understanding nomenclature, our scientific communication skills are enhanced, allowing us to share our discoveries and understandings clearly and accurately. In this project, we will focus on the nomenclature of hydrocarbons, which are substances formed exclusively by carbon and hydrogen. They play a central role in organic chemistry and are the basis of most molecular structures in living organisms.
Hydrocarbons are mainly classified into three types: alkanes, alkenes, and alkynes, based on the presence of single, double, or triple bonds between carbon atoms. Each of them has its own way of nomenclature which, in turn, informs us about the structure of the compound. Naming these compounds correctly is an essential skill for any chemist, and that's what we are going to learn together in this project!

Project Objective
The objective of this project is to develop practical and theoretical skills in the nomenclature of hydrocarbons, ensuring a good understanding of IUPAC (International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry) nomenclature for alkanes, alkenes, and alkynes.
Detailed Project Description
In this activity, groups of 3 to 5 students will create a card game involving the nomenclature of hydrocarbons. The game should be designed to reinforce and test the knowledge of the concepts learned. The rules should prioritize the correct naming of the chemical structures represented on the cards.
To facilitate the game's development, each group may divide it into three distinct sections: alkanes, alkenes, and alkynes. This way, the game becomes a review of these three types of hydrocarbons. Each card in the game should present a hydrocarbon structure and the correct name according to IUPAC nomenclature.

- Cardboard or similar material for creating the cards.
