Project Objective

The main objective of this project is to provide students with an in-depth understanding of oxidation reactions in organic compounds and the influence of these reactions in everyday life. Students will conduct a series of hands-on experiments, conduct theoretical research, and finally present their findings in a written report.

Detailed Project Description

Groups of 3 to 5 students will immerse themselves in the fascinating world of organic chemistry with a focus on oxidation reactions. Each group will have to address at least four key theoretical concepts, such as: oxidation reaction mechanisms, catalysts, synthetic pathways, and products of oxidation reactions.

Students will also be encouraged to explore the implications of what they are learning in relevant fields, such as biology, medicine, environmental sciences, and chemical engineering, making the project interdisciplinary.

  1. Organic and inorganic reagents to carry out the oxidation reaction (be sure to have the supervision of a qualified professional when handling chemicals).
