Furthermore, it is important to know the problems associated with soil degradation, such as erosion, compaction, pollution, and loss of biodiversity, and how these can be prevented and mitigated.
In this project, we will focus on analyzing the main types of soil, their characteristics and uses, as well as the importance of sustainable soil management for maintaining ecosystem balance.
Contextualization
Soil is the result of a long process of transformation of rocks from the Earth's crust, influenced by climatic conditions, living organisms, relief, and time. Each type of soil has unique properties that determine its use - whether for agriculture, building construction, or biodiversity conservation.
In Brazil, for example, we have the predominance of three main types of soil: Latosol, used in agricultural production due to its high water retention capacity; Argisol, which despite its vulnerability to erosion, is widely used in agriculture; and Neosol, with low natural fertility, common in arid regions.
Understanding the different types of soil and their characteristics is essential for sustainable management and efficient agricultural production. At the same time, this understanding allows us to identify and mitigate potential environmental problems related to improper soil use, such as erosion and degradation.

Activity Title: Exploring the World Below: A Study on Brazilian Soils
Project Objective:
The objective of this project is to promote the understanding and analysis of the different types of soils found in Brazil, their characteristics, applications, and relevance to the ecosystem and the country's economy. Additionally, the activity will stimulate the understanding of how human actions can impact these soils and what measures can be taken for their sustainable management.
For this, students in groups of 3 to 5 members will carry out the activity, which has an estimated duration of 5 to 10 hours per participating student, and a delivery time of one month.
Detailed Project Description:
The student groups will divide their studies among Latosol, Argisol, and Neosol - the three main types of soil found in Brazil. They will research and analyze the characteristics, uses, challenges, and opportunities associated with each type of soil, considering agricultural, geographical, socioeconomic, and environmental aspects.
