In this project, we will address the theme 'Globalized World 2'. Globalization is a process that refers to the increasing interdependence between countries, influenced by the growth of international transactions and the rapid flow of information, cultures, and people around the planet. This is a consequence of the technical and technological development that has drastically transformed geographical relations in intensity, speed, and impact.

Since the 1980s, globalization has become an increasingly present phenomenon in our lives. With the advancement of digital technologies, there has been a considerable increase in the connection between people and places, resulting in a greater exchange of information, goods, services, ideas, and cultures. However, this phenomenon brings with it a series of complexities and challenges that need to be understood and managed.

Globalization is not a uniform phenomenon, as its impacts vary considerably from place to place and from person to person. It can provide opportunities, such as market expansion and access to new ideas and cultures, but it can also exacerbate economic, social, and environmental inequalities.

Importance of the Theme

The globalized world is a topic of great relevance, as its repercussions affect all dimensions of contemporary life. Understanding globalization, therefore, is crucial to comprehend the current dynamics of the world we live in.

Furthermore, the increasing global connections have significant consequences for how we make decisions and act in relation to a variety of issues, from consuming products to taking positions on events and issues that occur around the world. Therefore, knowing and understanding globalization can help us make more conscious and informed decisions.

Practical Activity

Activity Title: 'Interconnections'

Project Objective

To analyze and understand the interdependence of countries in the era of globalization, focusing on the exchange of goods, services, information, cultures, and people. The activity should also promote collaborative learning through teamwork and develop socio-emotional skills, such as problem-solving, creative thinking, and communication.

Detailed Project Description

In groups of 3 to 5, students will choose a region of the world (Latin America, Asia, Africa, Europe, or North America) and investigate the aspects of globalization that are most evident in that space. To do this, they must identify:

• Main trading partners and what is traded (for example, in terms of goods, services, commodities)
• Major flows of immigration and emigration and the reasons for these movements
• Strong foreign cultural influences in the region (such as music, movies, food, fashion)
• Possible negative effects of globalization on the local community (such as inequalities, environmental problems)

After the research, the groups should prepare a slide presentation to be shared with the class, bringing the collected and analyzed data, photos, maps, graphs, and other images that illustrate their findings.

• Presentation creation program (PowerPoint, Google Slides, etc)

Step by Step

1. Divide into groups of 3 to 5 students.
2. Choose a region of the world to focus your research on.
3. Research the interdependencies of the chosen region with the rest of the world in the aspects mentioned above (trade, immigration/emigration, cultural influences, negative effects).
4. Organize the information obtained in a slide presentation to be shared with the class. Make sure to include images that illustrate your findings, whether they are photos, maps, or graphs.
5. Prepare to present the findings to the rest of the class.

Project Delivery

After the presentation, the groups should write a report covering:

• Introduction: Contextualize the chosen region, the relevance of the theme, and the purpose of the project
• Development: Detail the methodology used, explain the theoretical concepts involved, discuss the collected data and information, and present the findings.
• Conclusion: General comment on what was learned, compare the results obtained with the initial predictions, and reflect on globalization and its effects on the chosen region.
• Bibliography: References used in the project development

This report must be submitted one week after the slide presentation. It will be crucial to demonstrate what was learned and how the work developed. The richness and accuracy of the information, the quality of the analysis, the presentation, and the writing will be taken into account in the evaluation.
