Contextualization
Theoretical Introduction
The Southern Region of Brazil is the smallest region in the country, but despite its small territorial extension, it is one of the most diversified in terms of economics and social aspects. The region is composed of the states of Paraná, Santa Catarina, and Rio Grande do Sul. The region's economy is very strong, being the second largest in Brazil, and stands out for agricultural productivity, industry, and tourism.
Economic integration is a concept of fundamental importance for understanding the development and dynamics present in the Southern Region. This concept involves the interaction of different sectors of the economy, enabling the exchange of goods, knowledge, technology, and labor.
The southern region is also rich in biomes, with a predominance of the Atlantic Forest biome and the Pampa biome, both with a great diversity of species and fundamental importance for environmental balance. Studying these biomes is understanding how we intervene and how we can preserve them.
Contextualization
Understanding economic integration and its biomes is essential not only for geographical knowledge but also for environmental awareness and sustainable development. Through this study, we can understand how economic activities impact biomes and what can be done to minimize these impacts.
Students will have the opportunity to deepen their knowledge about the physical and human aspects of the southern region, including the analysis of employment, work, and income indicators, and the evaluation of the economic and socio-environmental impacts of agricultural activities and natural resource extraction. This project not only expands students' knowledge horizons but also develops technical and socio-emotional skills such as time management, communication, problem-solving, creative thinking, among others.
Practical Activity
Activity Title: "The Southern Region: An Integrated Study of Economy and Biomes"
Project Objective:
To develop an in-depth analysis of the economic integration and biomes of the Southern Region of Brazil, their relationships and impacts, presenting solutions for sustainability.
Detailed Project Description:
Groups must conduct a detailed research on the Southern Region, delving into the understanding of economic integration and the biomes present, identifying how the economy impacts the environment and local populations. In addition, they must propose solutions to minimize negative impacts and improve sustainable development.
Required Materials:
- Internet access for research
- Books and articles on the topic
- Presentation software (such as PowerPoint, Prezi, etc.)
Step by Step:
- Divide the class into groups of three to five students.
- Conduct an in-depth research on the economic integration and biomes of the southern region. Use reliable sources and record all sources used.
- Analyze how the economy impacts biomes and local populations, including the analysis of socio-economic indicators (employment, work, and income) and the economic and socio-environmental impacts of agricultural activities and extraction.
- Propose solutions to the identified problems, thinking about sustainable development strategies.
- Prepare a presentation that synthesizes the collected information. The presentation should include graphs, images, maps, and any other tools that aid in understanding the topic.
- The presentation should be organized into the following topics: introduction, development, discussion of results, conclusions, and propositions.
- After the presentation, students must prepare a written report containing the four main topics: Introduction, Development, Conclusions, and Bibliography.
Project Deliverables and Writing of the Written Document:
In addition to the group presentation, each group must deliver a written report. The report should present the research information in a well-structured and cohesive manner. In the report, students should explain the theory about the economic integration and biomes of the Southern Region, describe the methodology used in the research, present and discuss the results obtained, and the proposed solutions.
-
Introduction: Provide context for the study, explaining its relevance and objectives.
-
Development: Describe the theory about the economic integration and biomes of the Southern Region. Explain the step-by-step of the activity, indicating the methodology used, and present and discuss the results obtained.
-
Conclusions: Summarize the main points of the project, explaining the learnings obtained and the conclusions about the relationship between economy and environment in the Southern Region.
-
Bibliography: List all sources consulted during the work.
The report must be submitted in digital version in PDF format. Remember: the focus is on making a critical, reflective, and ethical analysis, based on information and knowledge acquired throughout the project.
