The Middle Ages are generally divided into three phases: Early Middle Ages (5th to 10th century), which begins with the fall of the Roman Empire; High Middle Ages (11th to 13th century), marked by great transformations; and Late Middle Ages (14th to 15th century), which ends with the beginning of the Modern Era. Each of these periods represents significant changes and themes that shaped the face of human society.

Importance of studying the Middle Ages

Studying the Middle Ages provides us with a broader view of the social, political, and cultural developments of humanity. Understanding this period allows us to grasp the roots of many current practices, such as the formation of the feudal system, the growth of Christianity, the origin of modern universities, the formation of cities, and the beginning of capitalism, among others.

Project Objective

The project aims to encourage an in-depth and comprehensive study of the Middle Ages, focusing on the social, political, and economic aspects of the time. Students will analyze how these factors influenced the formation of the modern world. Additionally, the project aims to develop extensive research skills, critical analysis, teamwork, and presentation of results.

Detailed Project Description

Groups of 3 to 5 students will be tasked with selecting a specific moment from the Middle Ages (early, high, or late) and analyzing the social, political, and economic aspects of that period. Based on this analysis, students must draw parallels with the modern world, showing how this historical moment impacted modern society. The project should be presented in a seminar format and should include:

1. Oral Presentation: The group must prepare a seminar to present the conclusions reached. The presentation time is 30 minutes, followed by a question and answer session.
2. Written Document: The group must produce a detailed report addressing the key points of the research. The report should include a clear introduction to the chosen period, the development of the analysis, conclusions, and bibliography used.

The project should take more than twelve hours per student to complete, considering research, seminar preparation, and report writing.
