Asia was the stage of intense imperialist competition in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, with countries like India, Indochina, and the coveted China being targets of powers such as Great Britain, France, and Germany. However, this process was not only about submission and exploitation - it was also a history of resistance and adaptation.

The study of imperialism is important because it helps us understand how the world was shaped and how international relations and the world system were structured. Furthermore, understanding these dynamics allows us to better understand how global inequalities were created and perpetuated.

Studying the impact of imperialism in Asia gives us a window into an era of enormous change and turmoil, which still resonates in the politics, economy, and culture of many nations. Activity Title: "Imperialism in Asia: An Analysis from a Local Perspective"

Project Objective

This project aims to provide students with an immersion in the theme of Imperialism in Asia, focusing on:

• Understanding the motivations and strategies of imperial powers.
• Examining the resistance and struggle of a specific country in Asia against imperialism.
• Analyzing and understanding the impact of imperialism on the culture, economy, and politics of that country.

It is also expected that the project promotes collaboration and teamwork among students, allowing them to develop skills such as leadership, communication, time management, problem-solving, and creativity.

Detailed Project Description

Students will be divided into groups of 3 to 5 people. Each group will be responsible for studying and presenting a country in Asia that has suffered the impact of imperialism.

The countries to be studied may include India (under British rule), Indochina (under French rule), the Philippines (under American rule), among others.

The final presentation can be in the form of a slide, a short video, or a podcast, and should contain the following elements:

• A brief introduction to the chosen country: geographical, cultural, socioeconomic details, among others.
• The historical context of the country before, during, and after imperialism.
• A detailed study of the changes brought by imperialism to the country in terms of economy, politics, society, and culture.
• A special focus on the resistance and struggle of the country against imperialism.
