This was a period marked by intense political, social, economic, and cultural transformations in Europe and the world.

During the Napoleonic era, France became a hegemonic power in Europe, extending the influence of the French Revolution beyond its borders. Despite proclaiming himself emperor and establishing an autocratic regime, Napoleon implemented a series of reforms that perpetuated the Enlightenment ideas of the revolution, such as legal equality, meritocracy, and the secularization of the state.

In this project, we will delve into the Napoleonic period to understand the political, social, economic, and cultural transformations that took place in Europe during that time. Practical Activity

Activity Title: "Napoleon and the Transformation of Europe"

Project Objective

The main objective of this project is to provide students with a deep understanding of the Napoleonic period, addressing the political, social, economic, and cultural aspects of the era, and its impact on the formation of the modern and global Europe.

Project Description

Students will be divided into groups of 3 to 5 members. Each group will be responsible for researching and creating a multimedia presentation that should address the following subthemes:

1. Rise to Power: The conditions that allowed Napoleon to rise to power.
2. Napoleonic Reforms: An analysis of the main reforms implemented by Napoleon and how they transformed French and European society.
3. Establishment of the Napoleonic Empire: A study on the territorial expansion of the empire and how it destabilized the political order in Europe.
4. Decline of the Empire: Causes and consequences of the fall of the Napoleonic Empire.

Required Materials

Students will need access to:

• Books, research articles, documentaries, and other reliable sources.
• A computer with internet access for research.
• Multimedia presentation tools (e.g. Powerpoint, Prezi, or Google Slides).

Project Step-by-Step

1. Group Selection: Students will be divided into groups.
2. Research: Each group will conduct a detailed research on the assigned subthemes using the provided sources and any other reliable sources.
3. Creation of the Presentation: Based on the research, each group will create a multimedia presentation that will present their findings in a clear and engaging manner.
4. Review and Practice: Groups will review their presentations and practice their presentation skills.
5. Presentation: Each group will make a 20 to 25-minute presentation to the class.
6. Debate: After each presentation, there will be a brief debate. Students will be encouraged to ask questions and discuss the ideas presented.

Project Delivery and Report

Each group must deliver:

• The multimedia presentation used.
• A written report that should fit and complement the presentation theme.

The report should follow the following format:

1. Introduction: Students must contextualize the subtheme of their research, explain its relevance and objective within the framework of the Napoleonic period.

2. Development: Students must detail the theory behind the subtheme, explain the activity carried out in detail, the research methodology used, and present the research results.

3. Conclusion: Students must summarize their main points, explaining the learnings obtained and the conclusions about the researched subtheme.

4. Bibliography: Students must indicate the sources they relied on to work on the project.

Students will have one week to complete and deliver the report after the project presentation.
