This movement was dedicated to exploring aspects such as freedom, democracy, and reason as primary values. Its ideas helped drive the Western world towards scientific, political, social, and economic progress, as well as influencing many of the modern democracies we know today.

The Enlightenment was a direct response to absolutism and autocracy, questioning existing authorities and encouraging the transition to a political system where reason and knowledge replaced belief and superstition. This movement played a crucial role in shaping the modern world, laying the foundations for human rights, freedom of thought, and equality before the law.

Introduction

This project aims to deepen the knowledge about the Enlightenment, understand its basic principles, its main figures, and how these ideas influenced the world. Students should research the genesis of the Enlightenment, its precepts, its major exponents, and how its dissemination throughout the world occurred.

Specifically, students should focus on how Enlightenment ideas led to revolutions, social and political reforms, and how Enlightenment principles permeate our lives today. By examining specific historical contexts, this project also aims to develop a deeper understanding of the conditions that led to the emergence of the Enlightenment.

Activity: The Enlightenment Light

Activity Objective

The objective of this activity is to deepen the knowledge about the Enlightenment, spark interest in historical research and analysis, as well as improve communication, cooperation, and teamwork skills.

Project Description

Groups will investigate and present the most relevant aspects of the Enlightenment in a theatrical representation and produce a detailed written report on the work.

The topics each group should cover include:

1. Historical context that led to the Enlightenment
2. Main figures of the Enlightenment and their contributions
3. Impact of the Enlightenment on societies of the time
4. Influence of the Enlightenment in the modern world

Each group will have a performance time of 15 to 20 minutes. The play's script must be written by the students, and all group members must have an active role in the presentation.

1. Books, magazines, academic texts, documentaries, online resources for research
2. Paper and pen to create the script
3. Set and costumes for the play (This can be simple and creative, using whatever is available)

Project Steps

1. Divide the class into groups of 3 to 5 students.
2. Each group should conduct in-depth research on the Enlightenment using the recommended sources and any other reliable sources.
3. After collecting and analyzing the information, each group should outline a script for the play, assigning roles among the members.
4. During preparation, groups should also prepare the necessary sets, costumes, and props for the play.
5. Each group will present their play to the class.
6. Afterwards, students should gather to discuss and analyze what they learned during the practical activity and establish the connection of this learning with the written report.
7. Finally, students should develop a detailed report on the project, including the research conducted, the script creation process, the play's execution, and what they learned about the Enlightenment.

Project Delivery

The final project delivery consists of the theatrical performance and the submission of the written report.

The written report should have the following structure:
