Context
Trigonometry is a branch of Mathematics that studies the relationships between the sides and angles of a triangle. The word 'trigonometry' means 'measurement of triangles'. Although trigonometry was developed thousands of years ago to solve practical problems in astronomy, geography, and engineering, it remains a fundamental tool in various areas of Mathematics and applied sciences.
In trigonometry, one of the most important relationships is the so-called 'Fundamental Relationship', which connects the sine, cosine, and tangent of an angle. It is expressed by the formula: sin²(θ) + cos²(θ) = 1. This relationship is fundamental for simplifying and solving various trigonometric expressions and problems.
Introduction
The Fundamental Relationship of Trigonometry is a simple yet powerful identity. It allows us to calculate the sine or cosine of an angle, knowing only one of these values. From it, other useful trigonometric relationships can be derived, such as angle sum and difference identities, half-angle identities, among others.
The Fundamental Relationship is directly derived from the definition of sine and cosine in a right triangle. If theta θ is an angle in a right triangle, then sin(θ) is defined as the ratio of the side opposite the angle to the hypotenuse, and cos(θ) is the ratio of the side adjacent to the angle to the hypotenuse. If you draw a circle of radius 1 with center at the origin of a coordinate system, the point on the perimeter of the circle that makes an angle θ with the x-axis will have coordinates (cos(θ), sin(θ)). The distance from this point to the origin is 1 (the radius of the circle), therefore, by the Pythagorean theorem, we have cos²(θ) + sin²(θ) = 1, which is the Fundamental Relationship.

Project Description:
The proposed activity aims to allow students to explore and deeply understand the Fundamental Relationship of Trigonometry. Groups should use this relationship to solve problems and expressions, creating a collaborative presentation. After preparing the presentation, the group must write a technical report related to the activity.

- Notebooks or sheets for notes.
- Computers with Internet access.

Step by Step:

Divide the class into groups of 3 to 5 students. Each group will be a team.

Each group should conduct a theoretical review of the Fundamental Relationship of Trigonometry, using the provided resources and/or others found.

After the review, each group should find and solve five problems or trigonometric expressions that require the use of the Fundamental Relationship. Problems can be found in textbooks, on the Internet, or created by the students themselves. For each problem, the group must explain why and how the Fundamental Relationship was used.

The groups should create a presentation (PowerPoint, Google Slides) showing, for each problem, the step-by-step solution and the application of the Fundamental Relationship.

Then, students should write a technical report, following the presented structure (Introduction, Development, Conclusions, Bibliography).

In the Introduction, students should contextualize Trigonometry and the Fundamental Relationship, and explain the relevance and applicability of this relationship in the real world.

In the Development, students should discuss the theory behind the Fundamental Relationship, explain the activity in detail, indicate the methodology used, and present and discuss the results obtained.

In the Conclusion, students should summarize the main points of the activity, state what they learned, and draw conclusions about the project.

Deliverables:
Each group must submit the presentation and the technical report within one week after the start of the project. The expected products are:

Presentation: It should be clear, well-organized, include all five problems and their solutions explained step by step, and demonstrate the application of the Fundamental Relationship.
