Cultural diversity encompasses the cultural differences that exist among people, such as language, clothing, and traditions. Furthermore, cultural diversity has a broad and specific understanding, including both artistic forms and cultural expressions as well as cultural systems, that is, culture in the anthropological sense of the term.

Cultural diversity is a concept that stems from the analysis of distinct cultures that exist in the world and their particularities, considering the differences and similarities, hence the importance of studying and reflecting on this concept in philosophy.

Philosophy, the mother science of all sciences, aids in the understanding of different realities, through critical analysis, sharpens the sense of humanity and respect for others by valuing empathy and respect for differences. It is philosophy that will provide us with tools to position ourselves ethically and respectfully in the face of the cultural diversity that surrounds us.

Respect for cultural diversity is essential for harmonious coexistence among peoples and nations. Through understanding and respect for cultural diversity, we can promote peace and understanding among nations, work towards eradicating prejudice and discrimination, and ensure that everyone has the opportunity to fully participate in society.

Today, we live in a globalized world where cultural diversity is increasingly evident. Societies are becoming more multiethnic and multicultural, and respect, understanding, and appreciation of cultural diversity are fundamental for social harmony and cohesion.

Practical Activity - 'A Walk through Cultural Diversity'

Project Objective

The project aims to provide students with an experience of cultural diversity, expanding knowledge in a real and practical context, starting from the theory taught in the classroom. Furthermore, it aims to stimulate the practice of skills such as research, communication, collaboration, time management, and problem-solving.

Project Description

Students, divided into groups of 3 to 5 members, must research, analyze, and present a culture different from their own. This culture can be from a country, region, or specific community. The goal is to present the customs, traditions, clothing, cuisine, language, beliefs, art, etc. The work should be presented in a video where students will simulate a travel program, showing relevant aspects of that culture.

Necessary Materials

• Internet access for research
• Materials for making graphic material (if necessary)
• Smartphone/Camera for video recording
• Video editing programs (if available)

Project Step by Step

1. Divide students into groups of 3 to 5 members.

2. Each group chooses a culture they want to present.

3. Conduct research on the chosen culture, focusing on relevant aspects such as cuisine, clothing, traditions, beliefs, etc.

4. Prepare a script for the video, including the presentation of cultural aspects and simulations of situations that convey these cultural characteristics.

5. Record the video, following the prepared script.

6. Edit the video, if necessary.

7. Present the video to the class and submit the report.

Project Delivery

Each group must submit a video lasting between 15 and 20 minutes and a written report that includes:

1. Introduction: Should involve the contextualization of the chosen culture, its relevance and real-world application, as well as the objectives of this project.

2. Development: Here, detailed information about the culture addressed, the description of the activities carried out, the methodology used for research and video production, and the discussion of the results obtained should be provided.

3. Conclusion: The group should summarize the main points of the work, highlighting the learnings obtained and the conclusions drawn from the project. It is interesting to point out how this project contributed to a greater understanding and respect for cultural diversity.

4. Bibliography: The group should list all sources used to carry out the project, such as books, web pages, videos, etc.

The project has a one-month deadline for submission. This gives students enough time to work seriously, but not so long that it may lose meaning and context due to the passage of time.

After completing this phase, finalize the project with the conclusion and correction criteria. Explain in detail how the teacher will correct the project, providing examples of a VERY detailed evaluation criteria list.
