It is within the limits of this situation that we learn about the need for intensive and adequate training, the influence of genetics, the role of diet, rest and recovery, as well as the impact of mentality and psychological aspects on performance.

In high performance sports, the difference between victory and defeat is often defined by subtle details. Usain Bolt, the fastest man in the world, finished a 100-meter race with a difference of only 0.01 seconds to the second-place finisher. In this context, sports science plays an increasingly important role. Through biomechanics, physiology, psychology, nutrition, and other disciplines, athletes and coaches seek to optimize every aspect of human performance.

Understanding high performance sports is thus a multidisciplinary challenge. It requires knowledge beyond Physical Education and includes fields such as Biology, Medicine, Physics, Psychology, Nutrition, among others. This project aims to provide you with a multifaceted understanding of high performance sports and its impact on the human body. You will have the opportunity to learn theoretically, perform practical experiments and conduct your own research.

Detailed project description:

Each group will be responsible for choosing a specific high performance sport (such as swimming, running, weight lifting, etc.) and, over a period of two weeks, they will thoroughly research the biology, physiology, psychology, and techniques associated with that sport.

This research will involve not only reading theoretical material, but also carrying out practical activities related to the chosen sport (such as training techniques, conditioning exercises, etc.).

The idea is not to turn participants into high performance athletes, but rather to provide them with a hands-on experience that will help them better understand the theoretical concepts that have been learned.

Required materials:

  • Access to computers and the internet for conducting research.
  • Access to a library with books on the topic.
  • Materials needed to practice the chosen sport (to be defined based on the group's choice).

Detailed step-by-step guide to carrying out the activity:
