Project Goal

Detailed Project Description

Students will work in groups of 3-5 and apply their knowledge of physics and mathematics to investigate the phenomenon of beats. The project will be conducted in two major phases:

  1. Theoretical Exploration: Students will study the phenomenon of beats, starting with sound waves and their superposition, leading to the phenomenon of interference, and finally, beats. During this phase, students will also examine how mathematics is used to describe these phenomena.

  2. Hands-on Experiment: Students will experience beats by creating a simple musical instrument - a cardboard tube with stretched strings that, when plucked, produce sounds of distinct frequencies. They will observe and document the occurrence of beats.

They will cut the cardboard into a long rectangular shape and then roll it up to form a tube.
