Introduction

Textual genres are different forms of texts that have specific purposes, characteristics, and structures of their own, which vary according to the context in which they will be used. For learning the Spanish language, the analysis and practice of textual genres are vital, as it serves to contextualize learning in real communication, whether written or oral.

There are various types of texts classified as genres, such as: news, poems, emails, advertisements, stories, among others. Each of them has specific characteristics that make them unique. For example, a story has a narrative function, on the other hand, a poem's main characteristic is to evoke emotions and sensations through the artistic use of language.

Contextualization

In today's world, the ability to recognize and properly use different textual genres is fundamental, as we are constantly surrounded by different types of texts. Whether at work, school, on social media, or in interpersonal relationships, textual genres are present.

Understanding and knowing how to correctly use each textual genre, whether in the mother tongue or in a foreign language, such as Spanish, develops communication skills, thinking structure, and critical analysis. Furthermore, it provides a better understanding of the culture in which the language is embedded.

Activity Title: "Exploring and Presenting Textual Genres in Spanish"

Project Objective

The objective of this activity is for students to learn about different textual genres in Spanish, their structure, characteristics, and real-world usage. The project will promote collaboration, communication, and critical thinking among students.

Project Description

Groups, composed of 3 to 5 students, will research and present a specific textual genre in Spanish. Each group must choose a textual genre (for example, letter, poem, news, etc.) and present a project that includes the creation of an authentic example of the chosen textual genre and a multimedia presentation explaining its characteristics, usage, linguistic, and cultural aspects.

Required Materials

1. Computer with internet access.
2. Software for creating multimedia presentations (PowerPoint, Google Slides, etc.).
3. Writing materials (pencils, pens, paper).

Step by Step

1. Group Formation: Form groups of 3 to 5 students.

2. Selection of Textual Genre: Each group chooses a different textual genre to work on. Learn about the structure, purpose, and characteristics of this textual genre in Spanish.

3. Research and Information Gathering: Dive deep into the chosen textual genre. Gather as much information as possible. Consult different sources, not just limited to textbooks. Find authentic examples of the chosen textual genre and analyze its structure and language use.

4. Creation of Own Text: Based on what was learned in the research, each group must create an authentic example of the chosen textual genre. Remember to use appropriate language for the textual genre and in Spanish.

5. Creation of Presentation: Develop a multimedia presentation that includes the following:

   • A detailed description of the textual genre.
   • Structural and linguistic characteristics.
   • Real examples and the example created by the group.
   • How, where, and why this textual genre is used in the real world.

6. Presentation: Each group will give a 10 to 15-minute presentation to the class, sharing what they have learned and showing the example of textual genre they created.

Project Deliverables

Groups must deliver the multimedia presentation and the authentic example of the textual genre they created. Additionally, each group must submit a written report with:

1. Introduction: Contextualization of the chosen textual genre, importance of studying textual genres, and activity objectives.

2. Development: Detailed explanation of the textual genre, structure, characteristics, and the process the group followed to learn about the textual genre, create the text, and the presentation.

3. Conclusion: Reflection on what was learned, the process, and the importance of understanding textual genres in Spanish.

4. Bibliography: Indicate all sources consulted for the project.

The report should align with the authentic examples of textual genres that students worked on in the project, thus serving as a tool to highlight and apply the skills they acquired throughout the practical activity.
