Project Objective

The objective of this project is to develop a "Polysemic Musical Dictionary" that exposes the polysemy existing in the lyrics of popular English songs.

Project Description

The idea is for students to select an English song of their choice, identify the polysemic words present in the lyrics, and explain the different meanings these words can take depending on the context. The depth and quality of the explanations will be evaluated, as well as the presentation and formatting of the "Polysemic Musical Dictionary".

Students will work in groups of 3 to 5, and this project should be completed over the course of one week.

Necessary Materials

1. English song lyrics.
2. Internet access to research the lyrics of the songs and the meanings of words.
3. Text editing tools for the elaboration of the "Polysemic Musical Dictionary".

Steps for Carrying Out the Activity

1. Group Formation: Each group of 3 to 5 students should be formed, promoting collaboration and efficient task division.

2. Song Selection: Each group should select an English song of their liking. It is important that the song has a rich and diversified vocabulary to broaden the scope of the activity.

3. Identification of Polysemic Words: Students should read the lyrics of the chosen song and identify the words that are polysemic. This is a great moment to use online English dictionaries to help with identification.

4. Meaning Research: For each identified polysemic word, students should research and note down all possible meanings, always taking into account the context of the song lyrics.

5. Creation of the "Polysemic Musical Dictionary": Based on the research, students should create their own "dictionary" that presents the polysemic words, their multiple meanings, and how they apply to the chosen song.

2. Written report that includes:

   • Introduction: Contextualization and relevance of the theme "Polysemy".
