Project Objective

Detailed Project Description

In this activity, your group will choose a relevant topic for your community or society as a whole (it can be a social, environmental, economic, educational theme, etc.). With the chosen theme, you will collect data and information related to this topic and present them in the form of pie charts.

It is important to consider different ways of presenting the same data and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of each. Remember that this project should be a joint learning opportunity, so do not hesitate to discuss, exchange ideas, and help each other.

Required Materials

• Computer with internet access.
• Software for creating charts (Excel, Google Sheets, or any other of your choice).
• Notebook and pen for notes and planning.
• Camera or cell phone to document the process (optional).

Activity Steps

1. Form a group of 3 to 5 students.

2. Choose the theme that will be the focus of your project. Think of something relevant to your community that can be well represented through pie charts.

3. Research and collect data on the chosen theme. This can be done through opinion surveys, official data, internet research, etc.

4. With the data in hand, discuss how they could be represented in a pie chart. Remember to consider the advantages and disadvantages of this type of chart and whether it is really the best option for representing the collected data.

5. Create the pie chart using the software of your choice. Remember to check the recommended sources to help in chart construction.

6. Analyze the constructed chart and discuss your conclusions. How were the data distributed? Is there any surprise or unexpected result? What is the relevance of this information to the chosen theme?

7. Prepare a presentation of your project, including the chosen theme, data collection, the constructed chart, and the conclusions drawn.

8. Finally, each group should prepare a written report on the project, including all the points discussed above.

9. The deadline for this project is two weeks.

Project Deliverables

At the end of the project, you must deliver:

1. The constructed pie chart.
2. An oral presentation of the project carried out.
3. A written report, containing:
   • Introduction: Contextualization of the chosen theme, its relevance and application in the real world, as well as the objective of this project.
   • Development: Explanation of the theory of pie charts, detailed explanation of the activity carried out, the methodology used for data collection and analysis, and finally, the presentation and discussion of the results obtained.
   • Conclusion: Recap of the main points of the work, explanation of the learnings obtained, and the conclusions drawn about the project.
   • Bibliography: Indication of the sources used to work on the project such as books, web pages, videos, etc.

The written report is an important part of this project, as it is the opportunity for you to show everything you have learned and understood during the project. It is important that all group members participate in the elaboration of the report.
