This project has as its central theme the sport known as Basketball or simply Basketball. Created in 1891 by Canadian physical education teacher James Naismith, basketball has become one of the most popular sports in the world, practiced by millions of people of all ages and representing an important vector for socialization, inclusion, and physical health.

Introduction

Basketball is a team sport that challenges players' ability to shoot a ball into the opponent's basket while defending their own basket. The game provides great physical exercise and is an incredible way to have fun and make friends. Like any other sport, basketball has its rules, tactics, and techniques that players must know to fully enjoy the game and to develop their skills.

The game of basketball is governed by a set of rules that have been developed over time. These rules define the format of the game, including the type of ball used, the size and shape of the court, the number of players per team, the duration of the game, among other things. Learning to read these rules is the first step to understanding basketball.

Basketball is more than just a game. It is a universal language that brings people from different parts of the world together. Basketball has become a cultural phenomenon that impacts fashion, music, and the very language we use. Names like Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, Larry Bird, and currently LeBron James and Stephen Curry are recognized worldwide. Basketball also has a significant impact on the global economy, with the basketball footwear market valued in billions of dollars.

In Brazil, basketball is one of the most popular sports, both in terms of practice and spectators. The Brazilian basketball league, NBB, is composed of some of the best teams in the country and is competitive at an international level. Several Brazilian players have succeeded in foreign leagues, including the NBA, the world's premier basketball league.

Project Objective

To develop a deep understanding of basketball, its rules, tactics, techniques, and how this sport intertwines in world and Brazilian culture. Each group will delve into the history of an NBA basketball team and a team from the Brazilian NBB championship, as well as develop a recreational basketball game.

Detailed Project Description

Groups will research, analyze, and present the main points of basketball, including: game rules, main techniques used by players, the history and impact of basketball on world and Brazilian culture. Each group will choose an NBA and an NBB team and conduct a detailed study on the history, main achievements, and notable players of these teams. In addition, the groups will organize and conduct a recreational basketball game, considering all the researched rules.

Required Materials

• Internet access for research.
• Writing material for notes and report preparation.
• Basketball court with the proper markings and balls for game practice.
• Safety equipment (if necessary).

Detailed Step-by-Step

1. Form groups of 3 to 5 students.
2. Each group must select an NBA team and an NBB team for research.
3. Conduct in-depth research on basketball rules, game techniques, and tactics.
4. Study deeply about the history of world and Brazilian basketball and how the sport intertwines in our culture.
5. Research the chosen NBA and NBB basketball teams, including their history, main achievements, and notable players.
6. Each group must organize and conduct a recreational basketball game, applying all the researched rules.
7. Each group must prepare a detailed report with all the researched information and conclusions about the experience of the game played.

Project Deliverables

At the end of the project, groups must deliver:

1. Written report containing:

   • Introduction: Contextualize basketball, its relevance and real-world application, and the objectives of this project.
   • Development: Report all the research done by the group, including details about basketball rules, tactics, and techniques, the history of the sport, and information about the chosen teams. Describe the experience of the game played, considering the team's performance, the application of the rules, communication and collaboration among members, time management, and game plan execution.
   • Conclusion: Analyze the learnings and experiences gained throughout the project, highlighting the understanding acquired about basketball and the socio-emotional skills developed. Emphasize the main points learned and the conclusions about the project.
   • Bibliography: List all sources used in the research, properly cited.

2. Organize and conduct a recreational basketball game, documenting the entire process from organization to game completion.
