Introduction and Contextualization
Urban adventure, our theme in this project, is a contemporary expression of extreme sports that has emerged in urban environments, using the city as a space for sports practice. It encompasses activities ranging from skateboarding lessons, parkour, climbing on special walls, among others. In addition to the physical aspect, its foundations focus on cultural aspects linked to urbanity, offering an alternative way to interact and explore the city.
By incorporating elements of risk and adventure, these practices can provide an adrenaline rush and pleasure. However, knowledge about safety, proper conduct, and respect for urban spaces is essential for these practices to be carried out in a healthy and responsible manner.
Developing the necessary skills to practice these activities, such as strength, balance, motor coordination, precision, among others, is essential to promote physical and mental health.
In the current context, where we predominantly live in urban areas, it is important to understand how the city can be utilized for physical activities. These activities can provide positive experiences, improve physical fitness, promote respect for public spaces, and encourage cooperation and teamwork.
Furthermore, urban adventure can be linked to urban mobility issues, being an alternative to conventional means of transportation. By exploring the city in a different way, a new way of perceiving and interacting with the urban environment can be developed.
Practical Activity
Activity Title:
Exploring Urban Adventure - A Multidisciplinary Challenge
Project Objective:
The objective of this project is to provide students with the opportunity to experience and study urban adventure practices, encompassing not only the physical part but also the theoretical concepts on the subject, safety, respect for public spaces, urban mobility, and teamwork.
Detailed Project Description:
This project should be carried out by groups of 3 to 5 students and includes three modalities of urban adventure: skateboarding, climbing on urban climbing walls, and parkour. In this project, students will first explore the theoretical aspects of each urban adventure modality, studying its history, rules, techniques, and safety equipment. After this study, they will participate in supervised practical classes with specialized teachers in each modality. Finally, they will hold an urban adventure event, where they can demonstrate their skills and share what they have learned.
Required Materials:
- Notebooks and pens for notes
- Safety equipment (helmets, knee pads, ropes, etc.)
- Skateboard, urban climbing wall, and suitable space for parkour practice
Detailed Step-by-Step for Activity Execution:
- Form groups of 3 to 5 students.
- Each group must choose an urban adventure modality (skateboarding, urban climbing wall, or parkour) to focus their studies and practices on.
- After choosing the modality, each group must conduct theoretical research on the chosen modality. This research should include the history of the modality, rules, techniques used, necessary safety equipment, and ethics in practice.
- After the theoretical research, each group must participate in practical classes with teachers specialized in the chosen modality. During the practical classes, students should take notes on the techniques learned, safety tips, and their own experiences.
- After the practical classes, each group must organize an urban adventure event, where they will demonstrate the skills learned and share the knowledge acquired about the chosen modality.
- Finally, each group must prepare a detailed report on the project. The report should have four parts: Introduction, Development, Conclusions, and Bibliography used.
Project Deliverables:
As a final part of the project, each group must deliver a detailed report that should include:
- Introduction: The group must contextualize the chosen urban adventure modality, explain its relevance, real-world application, and the project's objective.
- Development: The group must explain the theory behind the chosen modality, detail the activities carried out (theoretical research, practical classes, urban adventure event), indicate the methodology used, and finally present and discuss the results obtained.
- Conclusion: The group must conclude the work by summarizing its main points, explaining the learnings obtained, and drawing conclusions about the project.
- Bibliography: The group must indicate the sources they relied on to work on the project such as books, web pages, videos, etc.
Throughout the project, students must use their technical and socio-emotional skills to ensure that the work is carried out effectively, respecting the safety and ethical criteria defined. The written document will be a complete record of the entire process, allowing students and teachers to reflect on the results and learnings obtained.
Remember: It is not only important to execute physical practices, but also to understand their concepts, value safety and physical integrity, respect public property, cooperation, and teamwork.
