In this project, we will explore four main topics: (1) What are natural disasters, (2) What are their causes and effects, (3) How natural changes occur and (4) What are the impacts of these changes and disasters on the ecosystem and the species that live in it. Also, our investigation will be multidisciplinary, approaching concepts from geography, biology, and physics.

It is important to note that natural disasters are not necessarily "bad." They are part of the earth's functioning and, in some cases, can bring benefits, such as new land created by volcanic eruptions. However, the effects can be devastating for human populations and biodiversity.

Contextualization

We live in a world in constant transformation. Whether by human actions or natural processes, our environment is always changing, and with it, the life forms that inhabit it. However, our impact and our relationship with these changes are not always healthy or sustainable.

Understanding these processes and natural phenomena is fundamental to forming a solid environmental awareness and seeking solutions to current problems, such as climate change and the loss of biodiversity. In this sense, the sciences play a crucial role, providing knowledge and tools to deal with our planet more efficiently and respectfully.

Activity Title: "Catastrophic! Creating a Documentary on Natural Disasters and Natural Changes"

Project Objective

The main goal of this practical activity is to create a documentary that explores in depth the topics of natural disasters and changes, their causes, effects, and ecological impacts, as well as how we can act to mitigate these events.

Detailed Project Description

The groups, which will be composed of 3 to 5 students, will have to carry out in-depth research in books, scientific articles, videos, documentaries, and web pages to acquire a solid understanding of the project topics.

They should also conduct interviews with experts or people who have experienced these catastrophes to give a real and human perspective to the documentary.

Finally, the groups must create, direct, and edit a 15 to 20-minute documentary using digital video creation tools. This documentary should present the theoretical concepts learned in a clear and creative way.

As this is a very comprehensive project, it is recommended that students divide the tasks so that each member of the group has a specific role, such as researcher, scriptwriter, director, editor, among others.

• Computers with internet access for research.
• Video camera (can be a good quality smartphone).
• Video editing software (there are several free options available, such as iMovie, Windows Movie Maker, Lightworks, etc.).
• Microphone (not essential, but helps improve the sound quality of videos).

3. Conclusion: The student should conclude the work by revisiting their main points, explaining the lessons learned and the conclusions drawn about the project.
4. Bibliography: The student should indicate the sources on which they based their work for the project, such as books, web pages, videos, etc.
