Not all fuels are equal. They differ in terms of chemical composition, energy efficiency, pollution, and resources required for their production. There are renewable fuels, such as biogas, ethanol, biodiesel, and biomass, and non-renewable fuels, such as oil, coal, and natural gas. The burning of fossil fuels, unfortunately, releases carbon dioxide (CO2) and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, contributing to global warming.
Understanding these elements is essential to grasp the current global energy scenario and its implications for the environment. Knowing and differentiating the types of fuels, their applications, and impacts is the first step in establishing a sustainable path for the planet's energy future.
Fuels have played a fundamental role in the infrastructure and economy of countries. They are used to power vehicles, generate electricity, produce heat, among other applications. Project Name: "Investigating Fuels and their Environmental Impact"
Project Objective
The objective of this project is to investigate the different types of fuels, their origin, their uses, energy efficiency, and the environmental impact they cause. In addition, students will develop a prototype of an ecological stove that uses biomass as fuel.
Detailed Project Description
This work should be carried out by groups of 3 to 5 students and will last approximately 2 weeks, totaling more than 12 hours of work per student.
The project will focus on four main blocks of activities:

Theoretical Research: Each student should research about a type of fuel: fossil fuels, biofuels, nuclear fuels, or hydrogen as fuel (each student in the group should research a different fuel). They must understand the extraction or production process, energy efficiency, main applications, and the environmental impact derived from its use.

Concept Map Development: As a group, they will create an interactive concept map with the researched information. This map should include images, brief summaries, and diagrams to help explain the concepts in an easy and didactic way.

Practical Experiment: Build a small ecological stove that uses biomass as fuel. Biomass that students can easily find at home, such as fruit peels, leaves, or coffee beans, could be used.

Final Report: Each group will create a project report in document format, which will contain four main topics: introduction, development, conclusions, and bibliography used.
