In the Portuguese language, reading comprehension is one of the most important topics, as it involves interpreting the author's ideas, developing a critical point of view, and even learning about spelling, grammar, and text structure. In this project, we will focus on how to read effectively and understand a text, paying attention to how words and phrases are used to convey ideas and information.

Practice makes perfect. Like any other skill, reading and text comprehension can be improved with constant practice. Therefore, it is important to challenge yourself with texts on different themes and complexities to develop your skills to the fullest.

Objective

Enhance students' reading and comprehension skills through the practice of text interpretation of different genres, such as newspaper articles, short stories, poems, and instructions.

Students will also learn to work in teams and manage time effectively, developing fundamental socio-emotional skills.

Project Description

Students will be divided into groups of three to five people, and each group will receive a set of texts from different genres. Each group member will be tasked with reading and interpreting a text, identifying its main ideas, vocabulary, and structure. Then, the group will gather to discuss their findings and summarize the main points of each text in a written report.

Necessary Materials

• Set of texts from different genres.
• Paper and pen or word processing tool for the report.
• Reference books and/or internet access for research (optional).

Step by Step

1. Divide students into groups of three to five people.
2. Provide each group with a set of texts from different genres.
3. Each student should choose a text to read and interpret.
4. After reading the text, each student should note down the main ideas, present unknown words, and identify the text's structure.
5. The group should gather to discuss each member's findings.
6. Based on the discussion, the group should write a report on the texts, summarizing the main points discussed.
7. The written report should be divided into four parts: Introduction, Development, Conclusions, and Bibliography.
   • In the Introduction, students should present the analyzed texts and explain the importance of reading and comprehension for learning.
   • In the Development, students should describe the reading and interpretation process, explain the main ideas, vocabulary, and structure of each text, and discuss the group's findings.
   • In the Conclusions, students should summarize the main points and reflect on what they learned from the project.
   • In the Bibliography, students should list the sources of information used during the project.
8. The report should be submitted within a week.
