Practical Activity: "Press Club: Comparing Editorials"

Project Objective

The objective of this project is to understand the nuances of text comparison by exploring different newspaper publications. Students will analyze various editorial proposals, explore the content, and publish their own news, analyses, and observations. This project will involve research, critical analysis, development of writing skills, and publication.

Detailed Project Description

This project is intended for groups of 3 to 5 students and should be carried out over a period of one month. Students will be divided into "Press Clubs," where each club will be responsible for selecting two newspapers and analyzing one week of editorials from each. They will compare them, looking for differences in editorial line, approach, and style, and understand how the same events are narrated in different ways.

Required Materials

Students will need access to a computer with internet to research and analyze editorials online, a notebook or paper for notes, and a word processing software for the production of the final report.

Project Step-by-Step

1. Newspaper Selection: Each group must select two different newspapers for analysis. They should be from reliable sources and representative of different editorial lines.

2. Editorial Analysis: Each group should choose one week and analyze all editorials published that week in the two chosen newspapers. During the analysis, they should observe the differences and similarities in how events are reported, the language used, the opinions expressed, etc.

3. Additional Research: Students can conduct additional research to understand the context of the news if necessary.
