In this context, the opinion article is a robust tool that allows the exercise of expression and counterargument. However, in order to be able to argue efficiently and to dissect arguments from others, it is necessary to thoroughly understand its structure and functioning.

The structure of the opinion article is formed by three fundamental parts: introduction, development, and conclusion. The introduction is where the topic is usually presented and the objective of the text is established. The development is where the arguments are organized, and finally, the conclusion, where the author reinforces their point of view and presents a solution or final reflection.

Furthermore, it is vital to learn how to elaborate an opinion article so that we can develop skills such as argumentative logic, textual cohesion, coherence, and improve our linguistic repertoire. This learning enables us to participate in debates, defend our points of view, and express our opinions in an articulate manner.

Delving deeper into the relevance of this topic, the ability to analyze and write an opinion article is a fundamental skill in our current society. Fake news, unfounded opinions, and information manipulation are common problems in the digital age. Knowing how to distinguish fact from opinion, identify editorial proposals, and evaluate arguments are essential skills to avoid being deceived by erroneous information and to contribute positively to society.

Practical Activity

Activity Title: "The Voice of the Class"

Project Objective

To develop critical analysis, argumentation skills, and the writing of an opinion article, exploring relevant topics for society and for the school itself.

This project involves two subjects: Portuguese, where the structure of the opinion article will be worked on, and History, which will provide the context and factual basis for the argumentation.

Detailed Project Description

Students will be divided into groups of 3 to 5 people. Each group must choose a relevant topic for the school or for society (such as environmental preservation, bullying, the role of education in society, among others) and write an opinion article on the subject.

The article should have between 500 to 800 words and needs to contain: introduction, development, and conclusion. In addition, students must use persuasive and argumentative resources effectively, supporting their opinions with concrete facts.

The activity will be divided into 5 phases to be completed in a period of approximately 2 weeks.

• Computer or device for the final production of the article

Detailed Activity Step by Step

Phase 1: Topic Choice and Research (3 days)

Each group must choose a topic of interest and conduct in-depth research on it. It is important to focus on reliable and diversified sources. It is recommended to use books, academic articles, recognized journalism news, documentaries, among others.

Phase 2: Article Outline (3 days)

Groups must create an outline of their opinion article. Here, it is important to clearly structure the introduction, development, and conclusion of the article, as well as list the arguments that will be used.

Phase 3: Article Writing (4 days)

Students must now write the article based on the outline created. They must also pay attention to word choice, sentence construction, and argument articulation.

Phase 4: Revision and Adjustments (2 days)

Each group must review their own text, looking for grammatical errors, argumentative inconsistencies, and possible improvements in the text. This phase is important to enhance the text and improve textual revision skills.

Phase 5: Final Production (1 day)

Finally, the groups must produce the final version of the article, already revised and edited.

Project Deliverables

1. Report: In addition to the opinion article, each group must prepare a report with the following structure: Introduction (Contextualizing the theme and explaining the project's objective), Development (Reporting the theory studied, explaining the methodology in detail, and describing the activity process), Conclusions (Summarizing the main points of the work, explaining the learnings obtained, and the conclusions about the project), and Bibliography (Listing the sources used for research and work on the project).

2. Presentation: Each group must create an oral presentation (approximately 10 minutes) of their article for the class, explaining the chosen topic, the article structure, and the argumentation used.

3. Opinion Article: Finally, each group must submit the opinion article produced in digital format, following the ABNT standards.

The opinion article and the report will be evaluated together, considering the ability to synthesize, the coherence of the arguments, linguistic correctness, and the application of the opinion article structure. The presentation will be evaluated for clarity, organization of ideas, and the ability to effectively communicate the content of the article and the process of its development.
