Improvisation is an act of instantaneous creation that arises from a deep connection with music and the expression of feelings and emotions without the need for a predefined script. It is important to emphasize that the act of improvising is not restricted to professional musicians. Children, young people, and adults can benefit from this creative exercise.

In parallel, we have composition, a process in which the musician materializes their ideas and feelings into musical pieces, giving rise to a new sound universe. This process involves theoretical and practical knowledge, as well as a high dose of sensitivity and creativity.

Understanding the universe of music and its creations, including improvisation and composition, is a passport to a better understanding of culture and human history, as music is a direct reflection of society and the individual in their time. Music is capable of representing and expressing frustration, joy, sadness, hope, and many other human feelings and emotions.

In this sense, the project you will develop aims to explore music and its improvisations, compositions, and creations, developing technical and socio-emotional skills.

Activity: Music in Action - Inspiration, Improvisation, and Creation!

Project Objective:

The objective of this project is to challenge students' musical and creative skills by working together to improvise, compose, and create a musical piece, thus discovering the countless possibilities that music offers.

Detailed Project Description:

Each group will be responsible for creating an original musical piece that must contain elements of improvisation, composition, and creation. Each group can decide on the type of music, the instruments that will be used (conventional or unconventional), and what the theme of the music will be, if they choose one.

Required Materials:

1. Musical instruments (conventional or unconventional), available in the classroom or that students can bring from home.
2. Internet access for research and learning.
3. Paper and pen for notes and drafting compositions.

Detailed Step-by-Step for Carrying Out the Activity:

1. Group Formation: Students should divide into small groups of 3 to 5 members. Each group will function as a small band.

2. Research and Learning: Each group should research improvisation, musical composition, and creation. The reference materials already provided in the introduction should be the starting point.

3. Initial Decisions: After the research, each group should discuss and decide on the type of music they want to play and the instruments they will use.

4. Improvisation: Next, the groups should start improvising together. Each member should have the opportunity to contribute by improvising, and the group should strive to create something harmonious and musical.

5. Composition: From the improvisation, the group should start shaping a composition. They should choose the best parts of the improvisation and begin to structure a song, deciding on the order of sections, the duration of each part, and so on.

6. Creation: Finally, the groups should gather their ideas and create a final composition. They can experiment by adding new elements to the music, such as lyrics, or altering the structure as needed.

Project Delivery and Written Document:

After completing the musical piece, each group must give a presentation to the class. The group must also submit a written report on the project in document format, organized as follows:

Introduction: The student should contextualize the chosen music and the creative process involved.

Development: The theory studied, the process of improvisation, composition, and creation of the music should be detailed, indicating the methodology used, and finally presenting and discussing the results obtained.

Conclusion: The student should conclude on the learning obtained and the conclusions drawn from the project.

Bibliography: The student should indicate the sources consulted such as books, web pages, videos, etc.

The report must be submitted one week after the final presentation.
