We will start our project by discussing a fundamental concept in statistics, called 'Frequencies'. Frequencies can be understood as the number of times a certain event or situation occurs. This concept is used to help researchers understand the distribution and characteristics of a set of data.

A frequency can be simple, relative, or cumulative. The simple frequency corresponds to the number of times a value appears in the dataset. The relative frequency is the simple frequency divided by the total number of observations, showing the proportion of each value in relation to the total. The cumulative frequency is the sum of the simple or relative frequencies up to a certain value, indicating the total number or proportion of observations that did not exceed that value.

To better understand frequencies, it is common to represent them through tables or graphs, facilitating the visualization and interpretation of data. Among the most used graphs, we have the histogram, the pie chart, and the frequency polygon.

The importance of frequency analysis lies in its application in numerous fields of study that use data for decision-making. From monitoring sales in companies, through analyzing students' performance in schools, to even in scientific studies investigating the incidence of diseases in populations, for example. Knowing the concept of frequencies and how to manipulate them allows you to understand the behavior of a set of data, enabling predictions, identification of patterns, and more assertive decision-making.

Analyzing Frequencies: Classroom Case Study

Project Objective:

Apply the concept of frequencies in a real scenario: the classroom itself. By the end of the project, students should be able to organize frequency data into tables, calculate simple, relative, and cumulative frequencies, and display this data graphically.

Detailed Project Description:

Students should create a questionnaire with appropriate questions whose answers could be analyzed using frequency ideas. For example, questions like 'How many siblings do you have?', 'How many books do you read per year?', 'How many times a week do you practice sports?' etc. At least 5 questions should be developed.

After creating the questionnaire, it should be applied to all students in the class. The collected data should be organized, analyzed, and interpreted in terms of frequencies (simple, relative, and cumulative). The questionnaire responses should also be displayed graphically (using histograms, pie charts, and frequency polygons).

Required Materials:

Paper and pen for creating questionnaires, calculator for data analysis, and computer software for creating graphs (can be Excel, Google Sheets, etc.).

Detailed Step-by-Step for Activity Execution:

Step 1: Form groups of 3 to 5 students.

Step 2: Each group should create a questionnaire with 5 questions that can be analyzed in terms of frequencies.

Step 3: Apply the questionnaire in the classroom. Ensure that all students respond.

State here what motivated the choice of questions in the questionnaire.

Detail the questionnaire questions and the reason for choosing each one. Explain the process of applying the questionnaire and data collection. Demonstrate the frequency tables and explain how they were calculated. Present the graphs and discuss what they show.

Conclusions:

Review the project objectives and explain if they were achieved. Discuss what you learned during the project and how it can be applied in future situations.

Bibliography used:

List all sources that assisted you in preparing the project. This includes books, videos, websites, etc.

The report must be submitted in print and digital format, along with the produced graphs. The deadline for submission is one week after the completion of the practical activity.
