Activity Title: Frequencies in Action: Audio and Weather Analysis
Project Goal:
In order to apply and understand the concepts of Absolute Frequency, Relative Frequency, and Frequency Distribution, students will develop a project that involves the analysis of two disciplines: Physics (through the analysis of audio frequencies) and Geography (through the analysis of weather data), promoting interdisciplinarity.
Project Description:
Divided into groups of 3 to 5 students, students will first collect audio and weather data over the course of a week, and then analyze the absolute and relative frequency of this data, creating a frequency distribution for each data set. Each group will write a report explaining their findings, connecting the theory to practice.
Materials:
- Audio recording device (a cell phone can be used)
- Computer with spreadsheet software (Excel, Google Sheets, etc.) for data analysis
- Pencil, paper, and eraser
- Internet access for collecting weather data
Step-by-Step Instructions:

Divide the class into groups of 3 to 5 students.

Each group should designate one or more days of the week to collect data. This includes recording ambient sound at different times of the day and collecting daily weather data (high temperature, low temperature, and precipitation).

Development: Students should explain the theory behind the central theme of the project (what are Frequencies and Frequency Distribution), explain in detail the activity carried out, indicate the methodology used (how the data was collected and organized, how the data analysis was carried out) and finally present and discuss the results obtained.

Conclusion: Students should summarize the main points of the project, explaining the lessons learned, the discoveries made through the application of frequencies in the context of audio and weather, and the conclusions drawn about the importance of analyzing frequency in variable data in our daily lives.
