Volleyball, popularly known as volleyball, is a sport created in the late 19th century in the United States with the aim of providing a sport with less physical contact between players compared to basketball. This sport has been increasingly gaining a large legion of fans and players around the world, including Brazil, a country that has collected victories and Olympic medals in this sport.

Volleyball is composed of various rules, techniques, plays, and positions that, when well executed, can lead the team to victory. Furthermore, it is a sport that promotes teamwork, effective communication, the importance of strategy, and physical and mental agility.

Introduction

In this project, we will explore the fundamentals and rules of volleyball, understand the different positions and functions of players on the court, and learn about the different types of serves and plays. The goal of this project is not only to learn about the sport itself but also to develop essential skills such as teamwork, strategy, communication, proactivity, and time management.

Investigation and practice are important tools for understanding volleyball. Therefore, in addition to studying the sport, you will be practicing, playing, and analyzing volleyball games. This will allow the practical application of what has been learned and a deeper understanding of the complexities and strategies present in this sport.

Activity Title: "Volleyball in Practice: From Theory to the Court"

Project Objective

This project aims to provide an in-depth understanding of volleyball through the analysis, practice, and reflection on the sport. The intention is for students to learn the rules and techniques of volleyball, apply them in a practical environment, and finally reflect on the experience, describing the process and discoveries in a written report.

Detailed Project Description

Students will be divided into groups of 3 to 5 people. Each group will be responsible for researching a specific aspect of volleyball that will be drawn from the following options: rules, positions on the court, types of serves, and types of plays.

Each group will be responsible for:

1. Conducting a detailed research on the assigned topic, using the suggested bibliography or other reliable sources.
2. Preparing a presentation for the rest of the class explaining and demonstrating the concept.
3. Organizing and participating in a volleyball tournament, applying the studied concepts in practice.
4. Writing a detailed report on the experience, including the research, the presentation, and the tournament.

• Volleyball equipment (a ball and a court with a net)
• Books and websites about volleyball
• Materials for the presentation (paper, pens, whiteboard, etc.)
• Equipment to film the tournament (optional)

Detailed Step-by-Step

1. Research: Each group should start by researching their assigned topic. They should look for details and nuances, and think about how these concepts apply in practice.
2. Presentation Preparation: Based on their research, the groups should prepare a presentation, which should include a clear explanation of the concept and a practical demonstration. The demonstration can be done through simulations, videos, animations, or in the way that is best for the group.
3. Presentation: Each group will present their topic to the class, answering questions and clarifying doubts.
4. Volleyball Tournament: After the presentations, a volleyball tournament will be organized, where students will have the chance to put into practice what they have learned. During the tournament, students should observe how the discussed concepts manifest in the games.
5. Report: Finally, each group should write a detailed report explaining the research, describing the presentation, reflecting on the tournament, and offering conclusions and insights. The report should be divided into 4 sections: Introduction, Development, Conclusions, and Bibliography.

Project Deliverables

At the end of the project, each group must deliver:

• A presentation on the assigned topic, including a practical simulation of how the concept works.
• Participation in a volleyball tournament with the class.
• A written report. In the introduction, students will contextualize the topic, explain the relevance of the project and its objectives. In the development, they will explain the theory and detail the practical activity, showing the methodology used and presenting the results. In the conclusion, they will reflect on the main points, what they learned about volleyball and teamwork. Finally, in the bibliography, they will cite all sources used for research and project preparation.
