It also requires the ability to make connections between the ideas and events present in the text, identify and understand the central theme and sub-themes, evaluate and criticize the text, and know how to summarize and retell the text using our own words. These skills are essential for good academic performance and, moreover, are fundamental for the development of critical thinking, creativity, and independence of thought.

However, reading and understanding a text can be a challenge for many of us. This can happen for various reasons, such as lack of practice, poor quality of reading material, lack of prior knowledge about the text's topic, among others. Therefore, it is important to practice reading and comprehension regularly and consciously, using appropriate strategies and tools.

Real-World Applications

The skill of reading and comprehension is essential in practically all areas of life. In the academic field, for example, there is often the need to read and understand complex and dense texts, whether to learn a new subject, prepare for an exam, or even to carry out a research project.

Furthermore, in the professional life, the ability to read and comprehend is also crucial. In many professions, it is necessary to read and understand technical texts, reports, emails, contracts, among others. In addition, the ability to read and comprehend is fundamental to staying updated and informed about changes and novelties in your field of work.

Finally, the skill of reading and comprehension is extremely important for us to exercise our citizenship consciously and critically. Through reading, we can inform ourselves about events in our country and in the world, understand different perspectives on the same subject, and form our own opinion on the issues that affect our lives.

Activity Title: "Literary Journey: Exploring Textual Genres"

Project Objective

The objective of this project is to promote the reading, comprehension, and interpretation of different textual genres. Additionally, it aims to develop teamwork skills, time management, research, and writing.

Detailed Project Description

Students will be divided into groups of 3 to 5 members. Each team must choose five different textual genres (contemporary short stories, micro-stories, contemporary fables, young adult novels, fictionalized biographies, soap operas, visual chronicles, science fiction narratives, suspense narratives, poems, etc.) to explore and study.

Students should read and analyze one sample of each genre. The analysis should involve identifying the main characteristics of the genre, understanding the narrative, and interpreting its central message.

After the analysis, each group should prepare a presentation, which will include:

1. A brief summary of each text, written in their own words;
2. A discussion of the genre's characteristics and how they manifest in the analyzed text;
3. An analysis of the text's central message and the group's interpretation.

Finally, each team should write a report containing details about the analysis process, the learnings, the difficulties encountered, and how they overcame them.

The project should be completed within a week, with a workload of 2 to 4 hours per student.

Required Materials

1. Texts of the different literary genres chosen (can be found in libraries, textbooks, or on the internet).
2. Paper and pen for notes and report writing.
3. Computer or tablet with internet access (optional, for research and report writing).
