In the first paragraph of our dance, we have the Simple Sentence. This is the one that has only one clause, that is, a single main verb and may or may not have subordinate clauses to that verb. For example: 'João went to the bakery.' Here, we have only one clause, where 'João' is the subject, 'went' is the verb, and 'to the bakery' is the complement. Simple, isn't it?

In the second paragraph, we find the Compound Sentence. Here, we have more than one clause, that is, more than one main verb. For example: 'João went to the bakery and bought bread.' Here, we have two clauses: 'João went to the bakery' and 'bought bread.' In this case, we have two actions (verbs) performed by the same subject, making it a compound sentence.

Now that we understand the theory, let's understand the importance of all this. Communication is fundamental in all areas of our lives. Project Objective

To put into practice the theory learned about Simple and Compound Sentences, exercising sentence analysis, the formation of new clauses, and teamwork.

Project Description

Students will be divided into groups of 3 to 5 people. Each group will randomly receive excerpts of texts from different literary styles (novel, poetry, opinion article, etc). The task will be to identify the clauses, classify the sentences as simple or compound, and then reinvent the text by changing this classification.

For example, if the original text contains only simple sentences, the group must rewrite it using compound sentences, and vice versa. The final challenge will be to present a dramatization of the rewritten text, turning the study of grammar into a true theatrical spectacle.

Necessary Materials

1. Various text excerpts for analysis.
2. Pencil and paper or device for notes.
3. Camera or cell phone for recording the dramatization (optional).

Activity Step by Step

Step 1: Divide the class into groups of 3 to 5 students.

Step 2: Each group receives a text excerpt and must identify the clauses, classifying the sentences as simple or compound.

Step 3: The group rewrites the text, changing the classification of the sentences.

Step 4: Plan and perform the dramatization of the rewritten text. This can be recorded or presented in the classroom.
