Dramaturgy is the art of composing dramas, which are representations of realistic or fictional events that evoke emotions and reflections in the audience. It is a crucial element in the theatrical creation process, as it provides the structure and plot of a play.

Contemporary theater, in turn, is an expression of modern culture, as it addresses issues of our current times. The dramas that arise from this scenario are less focused on linear plots and more on social, political, and internal issues.

Importance of the Theme

Studying the forms of dramaturgy is essential to understand how stories are told on stage. It is a way to learn how to structure a plot, build characters, and create conflicts. This helps us understand not only how performances are created but also how they work to engage the audience and convey profound messages.

Contemporary theater, on the other hand, reflects the ideas and issues present in our current society. By evaluating contemporary plays, we can gain a clearer view of our reality and the problems we face.

Practical Activity

Activity Title: "From Text to Stage: Creating a Theatrical Performance"

Project Objective:

To understand the structure of dramaturgy and the characteristics of contemporary theater through the creation of a theatrical performance. This project aims to demonstrate how theory is applied in practice, encouraging students to create an original theater script and perform it.

Detailed Project Description:

Students, grouped in teams of 3 to 5 participants, should research the forms of dramaturgy and contemporary theater. Based on this research, they will create a short theatrical piece, lasting 10 to 15 minutes, that reflects the studied theoretical concepts.

Required Materials:

• Writing materials (computer, notebook, pen)
• Scenography materials (optional)
• Clothing and props for costumes (optional)

Project Step-by-Step:

1. Research and Study (duration: 2 hours): Groups should start the project by researching the forms of dramaturgy and contemporary theater. They can use different sources for this research, including books, websites, videos, among others.

2. Scriptwriting (duration: 3 hours): After the research, students should begin creating the script for their play. It is important that they remember to include essential elements of dramaturgy, such as conflict, climax, and resolution, and reflect characteristics of contemporary theater.

3. Rehearsals (duration: 3 hours): With the script finalized, it's time for students to start rehearsing the play. They should decide who will play each character and rehearse until they feel comfortable with their performances.

4. Production of the Play (duration: 2 hours): Students should prepare the set, costumes, and other necessary elements for the play's presentation. This stage also includes organizing the presentation venue.

5. Play Presentation (duration: 1 hour): Each group will present their play to the class. During the presentations, other students and the teacher will evaluate the plays according to pre-established criteria.

6. Final Report (duration: 2 hours): After the play presentation, students should produce a detailed report on the creation and presentation process of the performance. The report should follow the format of Introduction, Development, Conclusions, and Bibliography used.

   With this report, students should:

   • Contextualize the theme addressed in their project in the introduction.
   • Develop the theoretical structure of the project, explaining the theory behind the concepts of dramaturgy and contemporary theater used for the script creation, as well as detailing the process of creating and presenting the theatrical piece.
   • Conclude with the learnings obtained, summarizing the main points and retrospectively analyzing the project's realization.
   • List all sources of information used in their research in the bibliography.
