Contemporary theater, in turn, is a movement that established itself in the 20th century and stood out for breaking several conventions of traditional theater, opening up possibilities for new ways of making art, both in terms of narrative structure and staging.

Contemporary theater can be seen as an open space for experimentation and social critique. In this type of theater, producers and actors have the freedom to explore new languages and formats, creating plays that can go beyond the limits of the stage and text, involving the audience in a more intense and direct way.

Its importance in society is undeniable. Theater is a space for reflection, transformation, and, above all, artistic expression. Each play is like a mirror of reality, where we can see ourselves and the world around us in a critical and reflective way.

Production of an Original Contemporary Theatrical Play.

Project Objective

This project aims to have students study, explore, and apply various forms of dramaturgy and contemporary theater, creating a theatrical play that reflects the essential principles and innovations of these concepts.

Detailed Project Description

Divided into groups of 3 to 5 participants, students will conceive, script, produce, rehearse, and present an original contemporary theater play. Students will be guided to research different forms of dramaturgy in order to choose one that best suits the concept they wish to convey in their production.

The play must be original and unpublished, meaning that students must create it without directly basing it on existing works. Each group will be encouraged to address a relevant social theme or issue, so that dramaturgy and contemporary theater are used as tools for reflection and social critique.

The play should be planned to have a minimum duration of 20 minutes and a maximum of 40 minutes.

This project requires a dedication of at least 12 hours from each student, including research on forms of dramaturgy and contemporary theater, planning, script writing, rehearsals, and final presentation.

The activity will be concluded with the writing of a detailed report, where students will explain the process of creating and producing their play, the concepts and techniques of dramaturgy used, and a reflection on the experience as a whole.

Step-by-Step for Activity Execution

1. Research: Students will research and study the various forms of dramaturgy and contemporary theater. They should focus on understanding the key concepts, innovations, and characteristics of these theatrical styles.
2. Planning: Each group must discuss and plan their theater play, defining the theme, plot, characters, and how the concepts of dramaturgy and contemporary theater will be incorporated.
3. Scripting: Students will write the script of the play, detailing the scenes, dialogues, actions of the characters, and the use of the set and props.
4. Rehearsals: Groups will rehearse the play, adjusting the actors' performance, direction, lighting, and other production elements as necessary.
5. Presentation: Each group will present their play to the class, teachers, and guests.

In addition to the play's presentation, each group must deliver a detailed report, with clear chapters of Introduction, Development, Conclusions, and Bibliography used. The report should explain the relationship between the studied concepts and the practices carried out, as well as bring reflections from the students on the project. This document aims to strengthen theoretical and practical learning, consolidate acquired skills, and be a detailed record of the group's creative and critical process.
