In today's globalized world, mastering the English language is essential for effective communication. However, learning a second language is not always easy. Therefore, the best way to learn is in a fun and engaging way. The project 'Animals and Plants' is based on this idea, where students will enhance their English vocabulary while learning about the various animals and plants existing in the world.

Introduction

In this project, students will embark on a journey of discovery through the animal and plant kingdom. They will learn about the different types of plants, their classifications, how they grow and reproduce, and how they interact with the environment around them. Similarly, students will become familiar with a variety of animals, their physical characteristics, behaviors, habitats, and how they relate to other species.

Students will also learn about the importance of animals and plants for the environment and human well-being. They will explore how animal and plant species contribute to biological diversity, their ecological functions, and how they directly assist us, whether through food, medicine, or simply by making our planet more beautiful and enjoyable.

This project aims not only to enhance students' English vocabulary but also to encourage them to think critically about the complex interactions between animals, plants, and the environment. It also promotes a deeper understanding and appreciation of the incredible diversity of life on our planet.

Activity Title

"Exploring the World of Animals and Plants"

Project Objective

The objective of this project is to have students research, in English, about animals and plants from different parts of the world, to enhance their English vocabulary and better understand the biological diversity of our planet.

Detailed Project Description

Each group of 3 to 5 students will select a continent and research the plants and animals native to that area. They must choose at least 3 animals and 3 plants to focus on in their research. The research should include:

• Common and scientific names of the animals/plants in English
• Physical description in English
• Habitat and distribution
• Diet (for animals) and how the plant obtains nutrients
• Reproduction
• Ecological importance

The research should be presented creatively, through a digital poster, a PowerPoint presentation, a short video, a comic strip, or any other format the group chooses. Each group will have one month to complete the project.

• Internet access for research
• Materials for the creative presentation (e.g., video editing program or slides)

Step-by-Step for the Activity

1. Form groups of 3 to 5 students.
2. Each group selects a continent.
3. Conduct online research or use books about the native animals and plants of that continent.
4. Select 3 animals and 3 plants for further research.
5. Document the research including all the sections described above.
6. Create a creative presentation based on your research.
7. Present the project to the class.
8. Write a detailed report on the research and project experience.

Project Deliverables

After completing the practical part, each group must compile their findings and experiences into a 4-part written report:

1. The Introduction should contextualize the project, explaining the value of the chosen plants and animals and the research objective.
2. The Development section should address the theory behind the ecology of animals and plants. In this section, they should detail the methodology used, explain the information collection process, and present and discuss the results obtained.
3. The Conclusion should summarize the main findings, what they learned, and what conclusions they reached with the project.
4. The Bibliography should include all research sources, whether online, books, videos, or others.

The final report will serve as a reflection tool, allowing students to look back on the research, summarize the findings, and articulate what they learned from the project. This will not only help them retain information more effectively but also develop their writing, critical thinking, and reflection skills.
