This region of the world has an incredible cultural, political, and economic diversity, with economic superpowers like China and Japan, and rapidly developing countries like India and Vietnam. Other nations, although less economically developed, have unparalleled richness in cultural and historical aspects.

The interaction between the economy and the population in Asia is complex and multifaceted. Emerging economies bring employment opportunities and social mobility for the citizens of these countries, but also challenges such as accelerated urbanization and pressure on natural resources.

The importance of these issues cannot be underestimated. Asia has a significant influence on the global balance of power. The economic growth and population changes in the region have been the driving force behind many geopolitical changes. Moreover, many of the world's largest companies are Asian, affecting the global economy and the daily lives of people worldwide.

To better understand this region, we also need to take into account the social, political, and cultural differences among its countries. This means not only looking at economic and demographic statistics but also understanding the historical context, and even the physical geography, that influence these numbers.

To conduct their research, students should seek information from diverse sources, such as Geography and History textbooks, reliable websites of international organizations like the UN and the IMF, and documentaries available on streaming platforms. Students are also encouraged to read recent news about Asia to better understand current developments.

Practical Activity

Activity Title: Asia in Focus: Economy, Population, and Social Impacts

Project Objective:

The objective of this project is to provide students with a deep exploration of the economic, population, and social implications in Asia. Through extensive research and careful analysis, students should acquire an in-depth understanding of the complexities and unique challenges present in the region.

Detailed Project Description:

This project involves a detailed study of five Asian countries selected by the group. This study should take into account both economic and population factors and will need to be presented in two ways: a written report and an interactive visual presentation.

The visual presentation is where students can be creative, using digital tools to create infographics, interactive maps, or even three-dimensional models.

Each group of 3 to 5 students must select five countries from Asia to study. They should survey the main economic and population characteristics of these countries, and how these elements are interrelated.

Each group will prepare a detailed written report, as well as an interactive visual presentation, illustrating their findings. The project should be completed in a period of approximately 18 days, considering the complexity of the task and the number of hours to be divided among the students.

Required Materials:

1. Internet access
2. Geography and History textbooks
3. Software for text editing and creating visual presentations (Word, PowerPoint, Google Docs, Canva, etc.)

Step by Step:

1. Group Formation and Country Selection: Form groups of 3 to 5 students and select the five Asian countries you wish to study.

2. Research: Conduct extensive research on the economic and population aspects of these countries. Use the resources suggested in the contextualization and others you find useful.

3. Data Analysis: Analyze the collected data and identify the main challenges and opportunities these countries face. How are economy and population related in each country? What are the social implications of these conditions?

4. Preparation of the Written Report: Based on your research, prepare a detailed report that includes the following sections: introduction, development, conclusions, and bibliography.

5. Creation of the Interactive Visual Presentation: Using a software of your choice, create a visual presentation that illustrates the main points of your research. The presentation should be interactive and engaging, incorporating elements such as graphs, infographics, and animations.

6. Review and Preparation for the Presentation: Review the report and the presentation. Rehearse the presentation to ensure that everyone in the group is comfortable explaining the content.

The final deliverables of this project include the written report and the interactive visual presentation. The visual presentation should align with the written report, visually demonstrating the findings and conclusions described in the report.

The report should be written in a formal academic style, but direct. It should address the four main required topics (Introduction, Development, Conclusions, Bibliography) and clearly explain the concepts, processes adopted by the group, findings, and conclusions. Remember, the report is the opportunity to demonstrate all the learning acquired throughout the project execution.
