To understand these issues, it is important to understand two main concepts:

• Industrialization: It is the process by which countries evolve from a primary economy, based on agriculture and fishing, to a secondary economy, based on the production and manufacture of goods. Industrialization has a huge impact on the environment and society in general.

• Urbanization: It is the process of growth and expansion of cities and is closely related to industrialization. Urbanization accelerates the consumption of natural resources and generates problems such as increased pollution and pressure on water and sanitation systems.

These key concepts are fundamental to our understanding of environmental issues in Asia. Due to its rapid economic and population growth in recent decades, Asia has faced major environmental challenges.

Therefore, the topic is relevant to all of us, not only from an academic point of view, but also in the sense of developing a global awareness about the importance of sustainability and the need to preserve our planet.

Practical Activity

Activity Title: "Environmental Journalist Day: Environmental Issues in Asia"

Project Objective:

This project aims to analyze and understand the environmental issues faced by Asia, taking into account the processes of industrialization and urbanization that directly influence these issues.

Students will work in groups of 3 to 5 members, acting as environmental journalists, responsible for researching, analyzing, developing, and presenting a "television newscast" addressing topics related to environmental issues in Asia.

Detailed Project Description:

The project will be conducted in 5 main stages:

1. Research and Planning: Student groups should research and learn about environmental issues in Asia, especially considering the processes of industrialization and urbanization. It will be necessary to identify and select significant problems to be addressed, and to define the script and format of the presentation.

2. Content Development: Students will develop the content to be presented in the newspaper. This should include the identification of problems, analysis of the causative factors, and possible solutions. The content should be based on reliable sources and should be verified and reviewed by group members.

3. Newspaper Production: Students will produce the "television newscast", which can be done in the form of a recorded video or, if they prefer, a live presentation for the class. It should have a duration of 10 to 15 minutes.

4. Presentation: Groups will present their newspaper to the class.

5. Project Report: After the presentation, students should write a report detailing the entire project experience, from research to completion.

Materials Needed:

• Books, magazines, newspapers, and internet access for research;

• Camera or cell phone for video recording (optional);

• Computer for report writing.

Step by Step:

1. Research and Planning (10 hours): Identify the main environmental issues in Asia. Do an in-depth analysis of these issues, considering the impact of industrialization and urbanization. Plan the presentation script.

2. Content Development (10 hours): Develop the content for the presentation. Each group member can take responsibility for a specific area or issue.

3. Newspaper Production (10 hours): Produce the video or prepare the live presentation. Review the content and practice the presentation.

4. Presentation (1 hour): Present the newspaper to the class. Each group member should actively participate in the presentation.

5. Project Report (5 hours): Write a detailed report on the project. The report should contain an introduction, development, conclusions and bibliography used.

Project Deliverables:

The project deliverables include:

• A video or live presentation of the television newscast, lasting 10 to 15 minutes.

• A written report detailing the entire project process.

The report should follow the following sections:

1. Introduction: Students should contextualize the topic, its relevance and real-world application, as well as the purpose of the project.

3. Conclusions: Students should conclude the report by summarizing their main points, explaining the lessons learned and the conclusions drawn about the project.

4. Bibliography: Students should indicate the sources they used to work on the project.

In this way, students will be developing technical skills, such as analyzing the impacts of the industrialization process in Asia, as well as socio-emotional skills, such as time management, communication, problem solving, creative thinking, and proactivity.
